The "diversity" woman hired by the Canucks got fired.

Didnt last long...she was hired in early 2022. Not sure what she did but she deleted her twitter account (30k followers) and the team is refusing to comment.

Rachel Doerrie did the Staff and Graph podcast for years, seems very knowledgeable, also very outspoken.

We should not assume there was any wrongdoing on her part because she was terminated and she's taken herself off social media. Let's just wait and see what the story is before going any further. And note, I'm not just automatically throwing the Canucks under the bus either.

Probably the best take for right now. I legitimately don't know anything about her, but from what I've been reading in the past 30 minutes or so tells me she really knew her stuff, so labeling her a "diversity hire" is pretty messed up, regardless of anything else coming out.

It's hard to not think there might be some NDA.

I mean considering he’s thought every woman hire in the NHL has been a diversity hire it’s par for the course.

Not necessarily true. A lot of employers have started having policies that require sharing minimal information. At leaest in the US this is true. Also, it's possible that she was a victim of something that happened and both she and the Canucks are bound by the NDA in a settlement. If that's the case, it wouldn't necessarily be anything that she did.
If she left in good terms they'd have 100% wished her good luck, thanked her and all the usual PR stuff.

It's pointless to speculate on anything else at this point.

$10 says you didn't even bother to click on the article.

All I’m saying is that every woman that’s been hired you’ve given them all the diversity hire tag.
So basically you came here, didn't bother to click on the article and proceeded to comment and make a personal attack on false assumptions just for reactions.

Troll.

Diversity hire?

Lol they even edited the article.

Editor’s note: The original publishing of the story included a headline that National Hockey Now LLC did not agree with and caused many to read negatively. While National Hockey Now believes the author meant the initial headline in positive terms to identify diversity as a point of pride for hockey and the Canucks, it fell short of that intention. National Hockey Now LLC will further deal with the matter.

Calling her a diversity hire is just simply incorrect. Why she was let go by her second team in three years is a different question though. Best to hold judgement until more information is available in this case, and frankly if this was a man I bet we wouldn't even be talking about it.

Labeling her a "diversity beacon" was super-weird. I didn't get that at all. We'll see if something comes out.

But hey, it's one more analyst available, maybe Parnass and Sprigings have an opening for her on their staff.

It's hard to not think there might be some NDA.

That seems a bit extreme. If there was then something really shady went down behind the scenes.

We're not allowed to make fun of this, are we?
I'm getting my seven chuckles. This was bound to happen eventually. It's a good thing that the NHL is hiring women, but it also means women are gonna end up fired. It's the nature of the beast.

What's the funny part though, just that a woman got fired? Seems like you just hate women.

There it is! The classic you hate women response. Lol. It's funny cause the Canucks and media made a production out of announcing these hirings, for the Twitter clout, and now they're quietly letting her go while giving no details, likely to hide any blowback on her or the team. That's funny to people who aren't all hung up on the weird socio political parts of this stuff.
