And they have Zub who's a good partner for Chabot, but that makes the D pretty top heavy. After Sanderson, Chabot, and Zub it's pretty meh. Hamonic, Zaitsev, and Brannstrom isn't an ideal bottom 3. But if they could add Chycrun and/or Lundkvist(as a reclamation project) that could certainly get them closer to the playoff picture imo. Then they have Thomson and Bernard-Docker in the system who could hopefully fill out 1 or 2 bottom 4 roles. I don't think they're a playoff team yet, but they do have all the core pieces locked down to potentially make some noise.
IMO Chychrun would push them in a playoff spot but it's always hard to predict when a bottom team is going to take that next step. Last year wasn't as good as anticipated for the Sens.

I like them a lot on paper though.

I may be naive but IMO both the Sens and the Sabres will be top 5 teams in the NHL in 3-4 years.

They’re a team.

How can they be overated when most people barely have them squeek in the playoffs?
They're a rebuilding team that has seen their young players progress very well and has successfully added very nice pieces. So they deserve the spotlight for that. How much they're going to continue progression remains a question mark however. But noone is saying they're cup contender this year. Simply that they COULD BE in a few short years.

Ottawa has lots of potential, and I like the way they're set up, but let's see them make the playoffs this year before we pump them up too much. Detroit got a lot better too, after all, and the East wild card picture is looking like a bloodbath. Only 8 teams will make it in, Ottawa has a steep hill to climb and not a lot of room for error this year. Do I think they could? Definitely, but it's hardly a given.

I don't think any is saying it's a given though.

I'm not sure, we will see. Superstar is Mack/Makar level.
I am probably in the minority here but Makar is on a different level than MacKinnon. Don't get me wrong, MacKinnon is a legit superstar, but Makar is generational and there is a difference, at least for me.

As for Stutzle, I've kinda envied the Sens for having him, I'm not sure he's going to be on MacKinnon's level (top 3 centers in the league), but he's going to be a star for sure. If we had to use Girard in a trade for a C, I'd love to get him, I mean the Sens are running three centers on their top line (Tkachuk, Norris, and Giroux.) That's an embarrassment of riches, they can afford to lose Stutzle, right?

no.

Huh? Tkachuk and Giroux aren’t centers. Or well Giroux isn’t at his best at C anymore that is.

I mean Stutzle is at a pretty similar place to Mack after 2 years.

Ya I think Stutzle has MacKinnon potential. Maybe not as high. I don't think he'll peak as the 2nd/3rd best player in the league but I think he has top 5 center in the league potential.

I think Makar has a different ceiling/peak than both of them tho. Makar this year was better than MacKinnon has ever been IMO and Stutzle doesn't have that kinda ceiling.

The Senators are getting ridiculously overrated.
I'm probably in the minority for thinking this but I don't think the sens make any serious noise for 2-3 years.

The Giroux signing reeks of the same mistake signing the Avs made when they added Iginla to a young group of talented youngsters when the team still had a poor defense.

I'm not saying Giroux is going to stink but I don't think he's putting them over the top. He certainly wasn't able to put a top notch Florida roster over the top.

I think they still miss the playoffs and Cam Talbot will go back to being the Cam Talbot of old before his resurgence with the mild. I'm sure he'll take the majority of the blame as well.

Yeah, I mean that was one of the ones that the Wranglers wore. You also see it in the CHL.

I like some elements in this one, and I like the motif of going for retro Vegas, but then they should've gone way overboard with it.

Something that really says Vegas. Do a tacky neon wordmark. Sell the ad patch to a porn studio.

Only Fans enters the chat...

Bit of a shame to see someone dunk on George like that, but at the same time good to see his work getting the wider audience it deserves. Mulletman was always too obvious to be picked by the spreadsheet nerds like this.
