That sucks man. Sorry about that.
Lol well, I was fine with paying for the service - was somewhere around $150-$175 for the season - especially since I was able to watch games late or the next day and could even check out archives and stuff. But now they are funneling everyone in Canada that was using NHL Live to this crappy Sportsnet Now 'Premium' app where they hiked up the price and added some WWE garbage and a whole bunch of other sports that no one cares about.

I don't necessarily want to use pirated streams but the NHL is certainly pushing me in that direction. :(

Question for you guys... For those of you outside of the Colorado market, how are you planning on watching Avs games?

I've had NHL Live for the past 3 years but now it's not going to be available in Canada and they are forcing everyone to switch over to Sportsnet Now Premium for more $$$ including a bunch of horseshit sports that I don't want. I'm kinda pissed... The NHL Live App was pretty darn good.

I'm curious if I had a good VPN could I get Avs games even here in Canada? Does anyone have that kind of setup?
The NHL really wants people to sail the high seas. I live outside of Colorado but not outside of the "market". But guess who can't get a provider to watch Altitude without paying $100/month for DirectTV's streaming option. Which I refuse to pay because the only thing I watch live is Avs games.

But fortunately the piracy scene works pretty good. Sucks too because ESPN+ is a great price for people who aren't blacked out. DM me if want are curious about options

I’m in Nebraska so unfortunately I’m not “out of market”. It’s DirecTV and Altitude or nothing for me.

As a side note and (hopefully) helpful tidbit…

A buddy and I were experimenting with the Sportsnet now app as it says you can only stream one device at a time. However we both logged in to the same account and watched separate live streams for a bit with no issues, although we only tried it for about a half an hour.

I think we are going to split the (stupidly overpriced) cost and try to share the service. They are also giving a discount to those that subscribed to the nhl live app last year for the upcoming season. It’s not ideal but looks to be the only way to get legal streams of Avs games in Canada.

Also, I haven’t read up too much on blackout restrictions but they will likely be an issue without a vpn.

Dustin Byfuglien had the strangest end of career ever. We didn't hear a word from him since he decided to quit in 2019.

Just didn't show up to work, lost 14M in the process and disappeared.

This is the EA business model. Pull in a ton of cash off 7-8-9 'games' in a generation where only one is a legit new game... the rest are roster updates.
I was still playing '09 on my PC until a couple of years ago. Had a roster editor, kept the teams updated. It started to get silly when I couldn't add Vegas (had their roster, just couldn't ice them), and before Seattle joined I just finally gave up. If I need a hockey fix I've got '15 on the old XBox 360. Though those games are so broken...just feed one timers across the paint continuously and you'll win every game 10-2, at worst. You'd think the AI would start to check your wingers carrying the puck up the boards, or put a man on the other forward crashing the net, but no. The most it might do is play a collapse defense that maybe clogs things up enough that only half of your passes get through. The passes that the goalie just stares at as they go within inches of him. Use your stick, man!

Anyway, Speedball2 is the best hockey game of all time and it's not even hockey.

Bit more to it than that. Winnipeg wanted him to play through an ankle issue that Buff felt needed surgery to be comfortable on the ice. Buff had been playing through the issue for at least a season. That lead to the leave of absence and ultimately a suspension. When the suspension came through, Buff got his surgery done outside the Jets' staff. That January he was rehabbing and supposed to start training for coming back.... that just never happened. Plenty of speculation as to why it never happened, but I doubt we won't hear the answer on that until he ends up on a podcast.

It’s like Christmas now, except for those odd games on NHL Network which is surprisingly hard to see if you stream only.

At some point all the major sports will have to figure out how to let people support the sports they love to watch without making it such a monumental pain in the ass.

No human should have as many email addresses as I have now just to gain free trials to bonkers streaming services like Fubo to watch 3 or 4 Avs games a year.

Nothing’s worse than the NFL model though.

Really? I though the speculation was that it was something he did to his ankle over the summer, because he didn't tell the Jets that he was hurt before that training camp started. He passed his '18-'19 year-end physical. Before camp opened he told them he was contemplating retirement. He allegedly needed time to decide whether or not he wanted his career to continue, so Winny suspended him to get his salary off the books. Then he had the surgery.

If it was hockey-related, why not report to camp, go on IR, and get paid while you rehab from surgery?

Passing a physical does not equal being totally healthy. There was disagreement about how severe the injury was and the process to solve it.

Losing Byfuglien and Trouba in fairly quick succession might have done in the Jets way worse than anything that went on with Laine.

Not looking forward to next season's matchups with Winnipeg. Gonna be a full-on slogfest, though I'm kinda curious to see how in hell Bowness convinced Connor and Scheifele to even care about defense.

The Jets' downfall was not recognizing their window... then not pushing to win in that window until the last two seasons of it. That was a team that was never really willing to use future assets to help the team over the hump... until it was too late.

The freakin' Kraken bought the state of Alaska as part of their market. Can you believe that shit? I live 120 miles south of the artic circle but I'm in market for a shitty Seattle franchise.

MF'rs could've given me a decent club to watch like Calgary.

Who was it that was continuously beating the bell for the Avs to trade for/acquire Stone a few years ago?

Anyways, yeah dude was a solid player but it looks like his time is coming to a premature close.

HYPE! There's this in the broken game now!

Are the stands packed or empty? Who cares!

What a weird feature to focus on since you primarily look at the players from behind/above. They sure do have their priorities straight.
