Wouldn’t Vegas have been just fine cap wise if patches was having that surgery?
Not if he returned healthy during the regular season. They would have had to move salary out in that case to accommodate his return (or trade him). I'd imagine if they needed to move him during the season coming back off of a long injury, they would have had to attach sweeteners, like with the aborted Dadonov deal.

Are the Rangers really making Trouba their captain? I thought most Ranger fans wanted him gone?
No, they don't want him gone. They are simply pondering if he would've been the most movable contract because there are good young kids coming up and money is tight. Similar situation to this board here how we are wondering whether or not Girard should be moved. No one wants to get rid of Sammy per se.

Now with Trouba being named the captain, that obviously isn't going to happen. And most Rangers fans are very happy with the decision.

Sad story. Enjoyed watching him as a kid, was always respected as a top defenseman, mostly on crappy Toronto teams. Hope for the best.

Very sad news. I think I can safely speak for every Avalanche fan when I say while we weren't rooting for the Oilers we were definitely rooting for Ben. May he rest in peace and his family heal in time.
Poor little guy. 5 years old and he spent some of it fighting cancer, that's as bad as it gets. I hope his fame brought him some joy.

Devastating news. I had a recent (but minor) health scare with my little one and it shook me to my core. I can't even imagine this.

In a time when we read about so much toxicity around sports, he was a true bright spot.

Yes it's sad. He's 71 yo, I'm surprised he's getting it now, I thought ALS came in earlier (not an expert at all).

Former Av Sylvain Lefebvre got a new job

Yikes. I'm happy to learn that the Panthros aren't going to contend for anything next year.
