All big UFA deals end poorly, that's not some big revelation. What I don't like about the deal for Calgary is that this is a "going for it" move with an otherwise average team. When the Avs sign MacK to an 8 year deal, it will be good for the first 3-4 years of the deal only, and then the team is going to suck regardless of whether it was a 4 year deal or and 8 year deal. But at least we have a Cup contender team for a while longer, Calgary just signed a deal for a 3-4 year Cup window that isn't really there.
