Yeah that's not just a hockey thing. When I lived in Toronto, most of the people I met who grew up in the GTA never wanted to leave. Hard to blame them either, like the biggest US metros, you never really have to leave.
That's fine, but there are some players that WANT to play in Toronto. I don't think another Canadian city has that going for it. Personally, I can't wait until McDavid leaves Edmonton. Would love to watch that shit fan base melt down.

Because of the 482 Canadian NHL players that played last season, 212 come from Ontario.

As for the bolded, it would be hilarious for about 5 seconds until you realize that if he leaves it's because McDavid wants to play for the Leafs.

I'm okay with McDavid going to the Leafs. They aren't as annoying of a fan base as Edmonton is imo.

I would actually agree on that. But the media would become absolutely obnoxious. The horror situation would be if they had Matthews AND McDavid.

But I hope they both go to LA (apparently McDavid has said it's his favourite city in the States). It would suck for us in the future but it would balance out. Superstars far from Canadian markets, yes thank you.

I feel a little bad for the city of Edmonton to be honest. They’re obsessed with hockey like nowhere else I’ve ever been and really have nothing else of note going on in the city. But there’s not a lot of really high end wealth in that city so they’re kind of stuck with Katz and before that a weak joint ownership group, both who have saddled their team with eternally horrible front office management.

Am I crazy or did we not just literally see Zach Hyman, Tyson Barrie, Evander Kane, and Jack Campbell all choose to sign in Edmonton as UFAs the last couple of offseasons?

I think the biggest coup there is Zach Hyman tbh. The guy’s family is so established in the GTA and his wife had a high powered law job there and moving out of province would have meant taking a new bar exam. I thought he would stay in Toronto on a discount or if he was going to go somewhere else it would be Ottawa

More gang rape cases! I've heard the locker room hazing can get to sexual assault levels too. Probably thousands of those.

Came back from the mountains to read on the story... I should have stayed.

These stories are all over hockey and sadly, they get worse the further up the chain things god. The old boys will be boys saying stuck for far too long in hockey.

The emergence of new sexual assault accusations is not at all surprising. There are massive issues within the culture of sports that make already troubling issues in wider culture worse. It is an issue in everything from college football to any random Olympic sport.

Might as well, considering what a clustef*** it is

If this post is too political then mods please remove it but how can it be justified to ban Russian hockey teams, especially the World Junior teams, for what's going on in Ukraine but Canada will almost assuredly get to send teams AND host tournaments despite what's happening with the governing hockey body?

f***ing yikes...
The player told the camera operator that viewers were about to see "a f---ing lamb roast,” the three sources said. After the hallway interview, the camera was then carried into a room with a pool table, the source said.

The video shows roughly a half-dozen players taking turns having sex with a woman who was non-responsive and lying face up on the pool table, the source said.

f***ing yikes...

Do we know who was on that team?

Edit:

Fleury is the only active player
Wild are likely praying Fleury isn’t involved in the slightest otherwise they are hurting big time in net if this causes a distraction or Fleury steps away from playing.
