I think the trade I want to see the most is Karlsson for Bob. Florida gets another legit RD and a much better PP QB than Ekblad... but Ekblad can still run the 2nd PP. Florida can get rid of Bob's contract to let Knight take over. San Jose could 3D chess this and retain on Bob to send him to New Jersey or Toronto ( ) and likely grab some good young prospects from Florida and whoever they move Bob to.

That'd be a heck of a trade. I could see EK saying yes but Bob would have to agree to get traded first to SJ and then somewhere else. Unless it's a 3 team trade which would be super hard to pull with the massive amount of AAV changing hands and the general lack of cap space in the league.

NJ shouldn't touch Bob even at 50%.

Yeah Bob would have to be flipped. At $5m, he's could bring back solid value.

I'd disagree on NJ not wanting Bob... Bob, when motivated is a legit good starting goalie who even with faults is an improvement. Give them a goalie rotation for the mid 8s until Schmid is ready. If Vanecek is actually legit, there isn't enough cap held up that they can't keep both.... or the market for Bob at 2.5m would be incredibly high.

The price for a 3rd party to retain 2.5M+ for 4 years would be incredibly high, too.

I don't think Bob is a 5.25M goalie today and he's not going to get better in the next 4 years. NJ can do better.

Why would San Jose do this? Also, I don’t think Florida has the pieces to make that trade happen. You need a couple firsts or a A prospect just to ditch Bob and then a couple more of those same pieces to acquire Karlsson.

I'm saying if New Jersey had to dump him, Bob at 2.5m has a lot of value.

In a league where any random proven starter gets $6m per... Bob is worth that. He can still be a starter in the league... and when he's on, he's a top 5 talent. The being on has been more rare of late.

The doing better is possible though.

Bob with 50% retention is worth a 2nd and a prospect at least. Bob at 10m is worth nothing... Bob at $5m is like swapping any starting goalie. And it wouldn't be straight up Bob for Karlsson. It would be more like Luos + Bob + 1st + Mackie for Karlsson. San Jose gets good value there and whatever they can sell Bob for.

I’m not touching that trade if I’m SJ. It’s not a bad trade but I think they can get those sorts of pieces for Karlsson without taking on Bob. I’m assuming the trade above has some retention too. Florida isn’t gonna retain 50% imo

EK65 in Florida would be interesting for sure. I always figured Florida would be hot to get Chychrun.

Habs really are their own worst enemy. Getting points they don't deserve all the time, they needed a top pick in the upcoming draft. Now they are just ruining their rebuild.

They are like the opposite of Ottawa who needs to win but can't stop losing.

Seattle looking more and more like a legit playoff team. Goaltending is highly suspect but that forward depth is phenomenal, Beniers is quickly transitioning from a rookie to a star player, and the Defense is rock solid.

I know they are on a hot streak, but my god is that division so bad outside of Vegas... Calgary has been a massive disapointment. Edmonton is more or less what I expected (especially now with Kane out).

Still kinda baffles me where Seattle picked up all this scoring (outside of Bura obviously). They made so many bizarre picks in the expansion draft, like taking Dunn over Tarasenko. Dunn has been alright, still would've gone with Tarasenko today.
