That incident is despicable and has zero place in the the game of hockey. The kid should be allowed to learn from it. Suspend him, give him community service and anger management classes. The whole making an example out of the kid and attempted murder charges are utter nonsense. The book should not be thrown at him.

Did not realize they were so young. Thought it was a beer league or something. Even so, I did tons of stupid stuff as a teenager that could've easily landed me in extremely hot water. We all did, I'm sure. Can't say trying to stab someone was ever one of 'em, though. He should at the very least go through mental heath and anger management rehabilitation.

Why are we worried about the kid that did this though? He's a minor and there were no injuries. Nobody is going to throw the book at him. Let him face some accountability for almost killing someone, because he can't control his emotions during a game.

My kid played travel hockey for many a few years and I have so many horror stories I could share. In short, I don't miss these days one bit as youth hockey from a parenting and how to be human perspective has gone to crap IMO.
