So the Pens were playing in Arizona yesterday and after the game they all flew to Montreal (at 4AM) to attend Letang's father funeral. Letang wasn't aware and the whole team showed up.
That's pretty cool.
And Nick Holden is third in defenseman assists, too.Looking at various stat leaders
Both guys tried to kill the Avs in the playoffs. One of them succeeded.Looking at various stat leaders
Puljujarvi just got pummeled by Danault.
Georgiev is night and day better than Kuemper, absolutely no cares from me that he leads the league in shutouts.Looking at various stat leaders
I’ve said that about them for a while now. McLellan is basically papering over a mediocre rebuild by Babcocking the opposition to death every game. Sooner or later the jig will be up and we’ll see what happens to Blake. It ain’t all on him though. The Kings get away with so much hooking/holding/interference it's unreal.
Would absolutely hate to play a team like that in the playoffs, because you know you'll beat them but it will be a long series that takes a toll and frustrates the hell out of you because you have to play through so much.
Also saw a stat today the Kings are 2nd in the league in percentage of opponent shot attempts they have blocked at just under 29%. #1 is Vegas at just over 30%.
I've never been a believer in selling out to block shot after shot after shot. I don't think it's conducive to success, especially over the grind of a full 82 game season and then playoffs. I feel like being so high in that category will come back to haunt those two teams.

Agree. Very happy with the change.Georgiev is night and day better than Kuemper, absolutely no cares from me that he leads the league in shutouts.

The Kings are the anti Avs and can't seem to get much value from their top picks. Turcotte, Byfield and Clarke. If they can't get a couple key pieces from that group they pissed away three extremely high picks.I’ve said that about them for a while now. Kuemper has surprised me a ton. Although, he was legit in the regular season for us as well.Looking at various stat leaders
I think it’s way to early to write off Clarke. The dudes only 19 and has looked pretty good at every level so far.The Kings are the anti Avs and can't seem to get much value from their top picks. Clarke will be good. The other two are busts. The Kings are the anti Avs and can't seem to get much value from their top picks. Turcotte, Byfield and Clarke. If they can't get a couple key pieces from that group they pissed away three extremely high picks.
He's streaky, but talented. When he's healthy (large question with him) he can play well for long stretches... he can also hit a slump that lasts for just as long. IMO the key with Kuemper is when he's in a slump, he needs a break. He's not the type to play out of slump quickly.Kuemper has surprised me a ton. Although, he was legit in the regular season for us as well.
Not writing him off, Clarke looks like the best bet to become something. However, if the other two bust it will still look terrible.I think it’s way to early to write off Clarke. The dudes only 19 and has looked pretty good at every level so far.
Byfield will be given a very long leash with the TT breakout. All the physical tools are there for Byfield to be that impactful of a player, just remains to be seen if he can make it all click.Clarke will be good. The other two are busts.
I don’t see a #1 in Clarke. But I could see a top pairing guy, but I can see how his skating in this era could be problematic in hitting that sort of level.Byfield will be given a very long leash with the TT breakout. I'm not as sold on Clarke. He's like the healthy version of Timmins who has some skating issues, but plays a heady game at a good pace. It is possible it can work and even work well... but is he a #1?
Turcotte is a bit of a victim of expectations, but as much of that, he's been constantly injured since he got drafted. I think in the games he's played in Ontario, he's been a very impactful player on both ends and a bit snakebit. But he's not going to be a top line center and is more likely a good tweener than a 2nd liner.
I have my issues with top pairing in general because of the skating... I think 23-24 minutes will be too much for him. So more of a high end 3 that you limit minutes for, but is really effective in those minutes. IMO he's not a Fox that is slow with a burst, but efficient. He's clunky and awkward that causes him to wear down.I don’t see a #1 in Clarke. That makes sense. I’ve always come away real impressed with how smart he plays hence my views on him. But yeah skating is more important than ever now.I have my issues with top pairing in general because of the skating... I think 23-24 minutes will be too much for him. If that can get cleaned up though, he could be a really good player. Hell of a brain on him.

So this happened in the Dub.
Junior trade deadlines are wild. Zellweger is probably the best defensemen in the Dub, and Hofer is a very good 2C in the Dub... which cements Kamloops as the best team in the league (we're tracking to a Winnipeg/Kamloops final, though Seattle might have a thing or two to say about that). Adding to that, they host the Memorial Cup so they can basically load up for two major runs.Holy ****?! What is this?? These guys are worth that much? Sorry for my lack of knowledge
