Timmins is looking good in Toronto. Would be nice depth to have over Englund. I doubt Arizona would've traded him back to us though, that'd look really bad on them.

Man how awesome would it be if the Sabres make the playoffs this year? It's possible. Last time they made the playoffs Obama was the brand new president. W Bush was in the office the last time they won a playoff round.

Can’t believe what Boston is getting out of Lindolm. He’s in his 10th season and looks like he will double his average point totals for his career. That’s crazy! And for those who think the Avs are going to age out of contention soon take a look at the age of their core forwards. In fact the Avs roughly mirror them in the sense that their top D are years younger than their top Fs so there’s stil hope…
Bostons elite players have high IQ and Boston can draft which have both extended that window.

It’s unfortunate as his raw skills should have him in the upper echelon of the league
I don't even know if I agree with that. Someone like Burakovsky has much better tools/skill than Mantha does. Mantha is an average skater, average hands, decent shot, but it's not like he has a release like Laine. He's pretty much just a big bozo that floats around and scores the occasional goal when he has a grade A. Does nothing to make his line or linemates better.

Florida ain't makin' the playoffs. And I imagine they're going to have the most knee-jerk offseason in NHL history. Watch them continue to completely ruin a Prez-winning roster.

For all the "military discipline" Vinnie Viola and his cronies like to parade around (I mean, he literally emblazoned it on the Panthers uniforms) he is by far the most panicky, spiteful owner in the NHL. And that's saying something when compared to the morons currently running the Oilers and Canucks.

Good time to call Zito about Lundell when/if that happens.

For every Tage Thompson you get an Anthony Mantha or Oleg Kvasha.

Yup, I was a huge fan of Serron Noel during his draft year and thought he would develop into something that Tage currently is. Maybe not as good, but an offensive big man in his own right. Noel had some bad luck with constant injuries when transitioning to the AHL (actually he's currently injured), but he's looking more like a 6'5" goon-grinder than Tage. Thompson is a very rare breed and has almost a 98% failure rate, which is why he's so unique and talked about in the hockey world.

Without Kuemper we wouldn't have that Canadian Heritage celebration moment after winning the Cup
The Avs could have had a fire hydrant in net for the playoffs and still won. Hell they would have probably gone 16-2. Kuemper was garbage and should ask the NHL to have his name removed from the cup if he had any honor.

This is both funny and true.

I'd say for every TT you get 50 of those
Maybe even more. Who is the last big man with his touch? Eric Lindros?

Does Florida have to shed cap before they can activate Duclair?

They're currently using around $4.8 million of LTIR space, Cap Friendly says they have around $2.4 million in cap space, and Duclair makes $3 million. Not sure how it all works but the Panthers also have a surprisingly high amount of dead cap due to buyouts of Keith Yandle and Scott Darling. So yeah I think they do have to move some salary out, but I don't think it has to be a lot.

Sucks for them they have about $16.5 million doing absolutely NOTHING on the roster in the form of dead cap and Bobrovsky.

They basically had a 1 year window and it was last year

I think they would've been fine had they actually gone out and gotten a good coach and done whatever was necessary to get a legit power play quarterback. They did neither and we're seeing the end result.

Also, they just kinda went for the obvious shiny toys instead of addressing actual needs for their team at the deadline. They DID NOT need Giroux, they needed a puckmoving defenseman. If they had traded for, say, Gostisbehere instead of Giroux and Ben the Traffic Cone, they very well might have beaten the Bolts.

Gawd, the NHL fan vote thing for this year's ASG is the most poorly designed, user-unfriendly experience imaginable. Just the clunkiest, most awkward UI, it took me 10 minutes to select my ballot and get everything in, and it was like pulling fingernails the entire time. Classic example of fixing what ain't broken, I'm done with voting for this year.
