Yep. I agree. He continues to waste opportunities to improve this team.
He has been fortunate that we sucked for so long and our core is made up of top 10 picks. Other than the Toews and Kadri trade He hasn't really done anything.
He has actually made our team worse by losing O'Reilly, Duchene, Stastny, Zadorov, Graves and Cole and we only have Girard and Compher to show for it.

I don't think Sakic is done. It is well documented they were in on Giroux and you don't get in that race solely because he's the biggest/best name out there. Sakic saw a need that player could fill and if he's doing his job there are backup contingencies. All the moves made so far, from shedding some salary on Jost (this season and next) and getting Anaheim to retain 50 percent point to getting a top player. The one thing that would be on brand for Sakic is to not look for an additional rental but a Top 6 or Top 9 forward that either has term left or that they've been allowed to negotiate and extension with as part of the trade.
Not if we re-sign him. He's young enough that he could be an important part of this team for 4-5 more years still.
He's not Giroux, but he's a damn good middle 6 Center, which is exactly what we need.

I think Zadorov, Graves, Cole were addition by subtraction (I like Murray over Graves, too). Stastny left via free agency which was his choice, you could argue the O'Reilly trade not being the best, but he forced our hand. Also Bo Byram is offended you forgot about him.
Even if Sakic is done, I think the deadline looks like a win. Yes, Giroux picked Florida, but I think that Sakic landed the best d-man available and made an upgrade with Sturm.

Leaving 3.5 plus a potential 7m more with landeskog LTIR is not a success lol.

He made our team worse with the O'Reilly and Duchene trades. Lost Stastny, Zadorov, Cole and Graves and have nothing to show for it.
The Kadri and Toews trades were good but that doesn't offset the poor moves he has made including last years disaster of a trade deadline.

Patrice Bergeron may be worth looking into as a rental this deadline.. would help with Avs C depth
Pauly Walnuts has a no trade clause like Giroux right? Avs should trade a 7th rounder for him or he should pull a Claude.
Landing a top 4 RHD that fills a sorely missing void while not giving up a roster player is a win, especially given the price he paid.
What in your opinion would make it a win? What do you want yo give up for who?
