As we all know, that's typically how the Avs operate. Most any rumors you hear about the Avs are either not completely accurate or they are flat out fabrications.

...that won't stop us from posting them or speculating here, however. LOL.

Sakic would have some pretty good selling points, maybe even better than Vancouver.

Kuzmenko would likely get opportunities with MacKinnon and/or Rantanen now that the top line seems to have been split up. As a RHS he'd also get to play the bumper spot on PP1 most likely, since RHS is Bednars preference there.

Also factor in the Avs offense from the blue line which would put him in position to score frequently.

Yes, he might get to play with McDavid and Draisaitl in Edmonton too, but those two tend to cannibalise points from the rest of their teammates given how all their offense flows through them and since they get the full 2 mins on the PP. Vancouver also suck, so there's that.

And most importantly of all, there's the Colorado River which should clinch his interest.

Thoughts on Justin Holl as a potential target in the off-season as a cheaper alternative to re-signing Manson?

Toronto extended Giordano and now have Reilly, Brodie, Muzzin, Giordano, Holl, Liljegren, and Sandin on D. Holl seems like the odd one out with Giordano sticking around (and basically filling the role Holl has been filling), unless they want to trade Sandin though that seems a bit dumb given his upside and cheap caphit. Holl's $2m aav is clearly the easiest way for them to manufacture some capspace to enable other moves.

A lot of TML fans apparently want Holl gone, but his on-ice stats are actually pretty solid, especially on the PK, as shown in the tweet below. He's struggles at times at 5v5 whenever he's been expected to move pucks a lot, but as a big and relatively mobile defensive Dman he'd fit stylistically next to either Girard or Byram who can do most of the puckmoving, and also take a spot on the PK.

At $2m x 1 year contract would be pretty manageable in both term and AAV, and given the above he shouldn't cost too much to acquire either.

I wouldn’t mind it.

The Avs should be looking at budget beasts to fill out their bottom pair, or bottom 3 if Girard is moved.

I don’t see any reason to overpay for the depth on D when the top guys are going to be playing so many minutes.

Teams are gonna have a bidding war for Bratt, and while the Devils are distracted, Sakic is gonna get Andreas Johnsson for a half eaten pretzel and Lauren's signature

Friedman: Nichushkin re-signing is a priority for Colorado. Nuke likes it in Denver.
This needs to be the case. Nichushkin and Lehkonen are both more important to re-sign than Kadri. Kadri had a wonderful season and playoffs until getting hurt, but he is going to command a big contract and you can't give a huge chunk of cap space to a guy who is one play away from being suspended from an entire playoff run. He's also on the backside of his prime.

If the Avs go all the way with the hockey world watching I can almost guarantee Girard will be a hot commodity and fetch us a huge sum if traded. Team's are going to try and replicate our style. Everyone is seeing how important it is to having elite puck moving defenseman on the back end.

Girard isn’t playing, though…

As well it should be. He's found his ideal role, he fits perfectly and he's part of the grit we need to keep around.

I think this should be a part of Nuke's calculations. The coaching staff has helped turn him into the player he is now. I don't think he played this same style before.

He has this success because that style fits the team perfectly. If he goes to another team with a different system, he could have much less success, and joy playing hockey.

Wonder what will be the reasoning with Girard this summer if we win the cup.

Either:

Option A) "we can trade him since we won without him"

or

Option B) "we can safely lose a dman (like Manson) since Girard wasn't playing and he'll be back".

I look at as an option C.

They need a defenseman like Manson a lot more than a defenseman like Girard. Especially if they move EJ's final year if they win the Cup. Plus Girard can return a 2C or a goaltender. Manson can't.

That's option A.

I dont know if it will have that much of an impact.

But if the Avs win, and especially if they continue in dominant fashion... Teams will almost certainly try and adapt the elite transition style of play the Avs use. It will probably increase the value of transition defenders in general, but not directly Girard.

There should be a healthy market for a Girard trade this summer, but I don't know if we'd find our 2C in the trade either, they seem to be simply unavailable around the league.

I think there's some merit to trading Girard for a haul of futures tbh. Not for the purpose of a retool, but to sort of fill out the cupboards again and get some draft capital to use at next years deadline or elsewhere sort of thing. Especially if you can then use his $5M in cap to sign a guy like Trocheck on July 13th.

Ducks fan in peace. Hope Manson is doing well. Would still love him back in Amaheim. I was wondering what you all felt about Burakovsky? Play style, next contract will he be re-signed?

He‘s frustrating man. The dude has unreal talent and should be a consistent 35 goal guy, but he’s as streaky a guy as your going to find. Think he’d be a good fit to help you guys through the rebuild and potentially a trigger man for Zegras. But I’d be somewhat wary of going long term with him.
