The way Helm has looked this postseason some team will give him a 1M or 1.25M deal as a UFA for their 4th line

Helm has made $30 mil in his career, unless the Avs don't want him back he isn't going to leave for $250-500k. I don't even know if he'll leave over an extra year, assuming he likes it here.

Very different than PEB's situation where he only made $7 mil.

You underestimate how much money talks.

Take that 30 mil and immediately take 60% away for taxes/escrow/agent. Then you factor in all of the expenses incurred as an NHLer over his career and the fact that making this kind of money has a shelf life and it would not surprise me to see him leave for the most money possible.

True. People don't take in account expensive housewives, expensive lifestyle etc. It's so easy to spend money when living lavish lifestyle.

500k isn't a lot if you have expensive car, expensive golf club membership, yacht, housewife, family, best schools for kids, summer travel, luxury clothes, mortgage on a big house(too big) and other loans. Possible business expenses.

Yikes and add bad habits when they were making more money..

Ouch ouch

Thoughts on something around Girard for Dach+?
If we don't solve our 2c in other ways maybe a Girard + Compher for Dach + Toews (50% retained). Toews can play 2c while we audition Dach for it on the third line. What would the add be on our end for Toews?

Hopefully we offered between 3 and 4, so that way we can now go for 5-6m.
But if it wasn't close at 3-4M before this season how much does he want now?

Isn't this the same bloke that caused quite a stir with the Landeskog rumors in the offseason? Why does he feel the need to cover Avs content? Nuke will be payed no doubt and deserves every penny but if I were a betting man, I bet these rumors are baseless.
Not baseless. You may question his motivation but Strickland isnt making stuff up.

Not surprising at all. He'll get 7M on the open market. Sakic won't offer that and he shouldn't. We have our core pieces. Some other teams will be desperate to have more.
Watch them let Nuke walk and re-up Kadri.

The good news is if we do lose Val, Lehky should be able to replace a lot of what Nuke brought to the table. Not all of it, but a lot.

It would also free up like 5-6M in place that could be put towards somebody in UFA for example.

I'd hate to lose Nuke but if the Avs end up turning around and spending his money on say Nick Paul for 3C I would be.ok with that.

Nuke is going to cost a mint. He left for Russia from Dallas for a few more bucks and Dallas needed to pay to get him back. Now with the season he's had and his advanced stats... somebody will pay up. An AAV starting at 6m wouldn't shock me at all.
