Gibson's best sv% over the last three seasons is .904. It's completely normal for top goalies to post solid numbers behind bad teams, Gibson doesn't.
Stay away.

1st and Newhook is way too much.

Also I would add, players like Newhook are weight worth gold if they pan out. Small contract etc. Key to having success long-term.

Wonder what Chicago wants for Dach, you know the Avs scouted him heavily his draft year. Wouldn't surprise me if he was the pick if Chicago picked Byram

Trade forum seems to think Dach for Kakko makes sense for both sides. Apparently Rangers need center and both have been underwhelming a bit.

I think it makes sense

Thoughts on something around Girard for Dach+?
Girard is an interesting player. If he can become Rafalski/Timonen level player, it would be a huge mistake to trade him. I think he could make it, adding some mass to his frame.

But at the same time he is our most valuable trade piece. Not sure I would risk him with a prospect. We want something bit more certain.

I would rather trade Girard for someone who is on a great contract too, cost controlled.

(Not familiar with Dach contract)

Speaking of finding cheap veteran contracts, I wonder if Stastny is willing to sign cheap to chase the cup. Would be good addition as 3/4 C depth.

Would be nice to know who the 2 US Clubs are, and if the Avs are one of them.

Just wondering what types of moves they need to make to basically replace the 2nd line and try and keep this window going as long as possible.

Adding mass is literally the last thing Girard should be doing.

Yep, don't bulk up. His speed is his best asset, gotta keep that optimal.

There's nothing that can really be done if guys are gonna take late runs at him. You just play through it the best you can. I've maintained that late hits should be better scrutinized by the league--the hit from Barbashev was a cheap shot, and I won't hear arguments to the contrary. The other hits that have taken him out, the late hit by Bennett in the Calgary series and the REALLY dirty hit by La-Bank near the end of last season, I don't see what in hell added bulk would do to help against those.

They never should have passed on Byram. Bo was a huge need for the Hawks, the NHL gifted him to them, and Bowman went and got a hard on for a big boy.

But I'm all too happy to watch the Avs profit from Chicago's mistakes.

Based on what I've read Dach was always going to be a high-risk/high-reward kind of pick. Not sure Chicago has done a good job at all developing him, but I'm also not terribly interested in him as a player.

Still a better pick than Illinois native Alex Turcotte, whom I thought for sure they were going to select.

Chicago is selling LOW on him if this is true so that ain't a good sign.

I think it's way too early to give up on Dach. Bigger guys like that tend to take longer to develop.
