Sakic is 100% going after Puljujarvi

Yeah I'd be willing to bet a good chunk of change you could pile a list of ~5-10 names in free agency or available in trade that fit this billing.... And the Avs will end up with 1-2 of them this summer.

Evan Rodrigues would absolutely make sense to be one fwiw.

lol okay, a lot of that sounds like NHL common sense. How about in the defensive end? Are you forgetting that blatant turnover to Landeskog? After seeing the success of guys like Lehkonen and Nuke, I know Sakic will never go after a Pulju type so I'm not worried. But I really never understood the infatuation with him here. Take away his draft position and I wonder if there's still the same hype.

The only appealing thing about Poolparty is his physical assets, and his shot isn't even that great. Tools, no toolbox. And frankly it doesn't seem like his non-hockey IQ is very high either

Literally everything you said is what Dallas fans said about Nuke.

I know it's a weird concept but when players are put into positions to succeed they actually get better. Puljujarvi fits Bednar's system perfectly, I don't know why you don't think Puljujarvi, who is a better player than NAK/Nichushkin/Burakovsky were at the time of the trade is an exception to this.

Sounds a lot like Nuke 4 years ago.

I think Puljujärvi is more Yakupov than Nichushin when it comes to being able to transform his game. When you are a dum dum, it's hard to change ways.

He does have a good set of physical tools, so if things just click for him he'll be a good player.

No, it's not NHL common sense because if it was every single player would be doing those things. Spoiler: they're not.

And you're acting like one turnover defines a player. How many blatant turnovers has Landeskog made? Does that make him a hockey dummy?

Puljujarvi is a great buy low candidate that could break out if given the right opportunity, linemates and belief from the coaching staff.

One guy I'd take a look at this summer is Pius Suter.

One year left on his deal at 3.25M, but he could be a really solid middle 6 option, very much fits the mold of the sort of players Sakic likes to target.

You guys might be bitter but I'd still take Giroux here this summer. Good fit and he likely isn't motivated by money.

He’s not motivated by money but he is motivated by geography. No way is he moving his family that far out west.

Rumor has it he’s headed straight for Ottawa. We’ll see I guess.

So what do y'all reckon the price for Puljujarvi will be? And do the Avs have the assets that would interest Edmonton?

Detroit isn't trading him this summer... maybe at the deadline.

Soooo... JTC + Kaut... with JTC filtered through Arizona or Seattle so EDM get him with retention? I don't really see a fit for Edmonton here tbh
Kaut isn't a B prospect at this point and JTC isn't close in value (pending UFA 3rd liner doesn't carry a lot of value to them).... and you don't have a pick in there. If the Avs want Poolparty, you're looking at LOC + OO/Behrens at minimum and I don't think that gets it done.

Haven’t heard anything about the Avs being in on Kuzmenko. I think it would be a worthy gamble, but maybe they’re satisfied with Ben Meyers as their creative addition for next season.
Someone mentioned his linemate Anton Burdasov, but looks like he signed with Traktor.

If Compher puts up another playoff run like this, he’s easily worth $3.5M. His pint totals early in the season were goosed by him along for the ride on PP1, but what he’s doing now has been so meaningful.

The #2 pick is tempting. Could take Cooley and hopefully offset some of the cap troubles with the cheap young guy as 2C.

Nobody is getting the #2 OA pick. Slaf is exactly what the doctor ordered for NJ and they know it.

Now if Montreal pick Slaf that's a different story but it's very unlikely.
