No need to order supper boys, a lot of people eating their own words.

Since two rookie camp games was enough to give him bust status.. surely an intra-squad scrimmage is enough to give him legendary status.
Hopefully Slaf doesn't order anything extra, he's fat :sarcasm:

Don't expect much praise when he plays well. This is the new Carey Price/KK thread. Expect 10-20 new pages after every bad game however.
Complete BS, there are like 3 toxic guys and maybe 10 hard skeptics at most... The majority are extremely positive.

Don’t be dramatic. Nobody has any hard feelings about him. He has no history — some are more skeptical than others, is all.

Will be fun to watch high post number members embarrass themselves once again. You think some folks would learn.

I don’t know how anyone can watch him and what he's doing at 18 years old and not see the huge ceiling he has.

If you’re a coach and you have any ability at all, you're salivating at the prospect of what this player could accomplish in 2-3-4 years.

Those rookie games are a distant memory now huh?

I'm soo happy that Habs have drafted Slafkovsky, one of my favorite 2022 draft prospect, his potential is too big and he have already more qualities than KK and Galchenyuk, so much better protection of puck, better skating, better hands, better physical ability, looks already better playmaker too, this guy is going to be sooo goood with Suzuki and Caufield.

Habs have a lot of talent in their team, that's going to be fun to watch!!

One thing is sure, he's a lot more exciting prospect than Kotkaniemi and Galchenyuk were.

Oh yes, no comparison there. Galchenyuk and KK very talented prospects with high potential, but not dominated and play a pro game already like Slafkovsky in camp. Slafkovsky show already why is a 1st overall pick, not only the high talent, but physical beast, protection beast, great skating and speak so much well more than Galchenyuk and KK, he have already leader attitude.

I see we're still obsessing about Slaf's weight gain.....carry on.

If you downplayed the rookie games you should surely downplay the ... intra-squad scrimmages. That is if you had any interest in being productive about this topic.

Slaf looks strong, let's hope he can dish the biscuit at an NHL level and make some effing plays.

It is crazy to think we can draw any conclusions after rookie camp and training camp. The dilemma about Slaf is the same as it was two months ago, nothing as changed in one way or the other.

Anyone ever actually said he didn't have a huge ceiling or is that just in your head ? You'd be dumb to say anything else than that, the variance in the player Slafkovsky can be is literally the largest Ive ever seen.

As for rookie games, I saw the same thing yesterday. His offense need refinement, AHL should be on the table.

Today he was much better though, but at the same time a bit less noticeable.

One thing is sure, he's a lot more exciting prospect than Kotkaniemi and Galchenyuk were.

Kotkaniemi sure, and he should be as he's a 1st overall vs a 3rd.

Galchenyuk, absolutely not. People were calling him a future Malkin after camp. He scored a goal in his second game, had 5 points in his first 5 games, 7 in his first 7.

He was routinely compared to Toews, Malkin, Backstrom, Kopitar.

The upper limits of his potential are even more tantalizing. My long-term projection would be for a healthy Galchenyuk to put up 80 to 90 points a year in his scoring prime (24 to 26) and maybe even earlier, while flirting with 25 goals apiece.

Ranked ahead of Pacioretty in the u25 poll for 2013 (104 points in his last 123 games)

Ask anyone who has seen him play on a regular basis, and they’ll tell you he’s bound for stardom. There have even been those who’ve suggested Galchenyuk will be a better NHLer than Yakupov. More than a few people feel Galchenyuk should have gone first-overall.

It’s not as though these statements aren’t justified. If Galchenyuk will succeed in the NHL, it will certainly be as a top-six player. One won’t get much argument there.

Galchenyuk has played both centre and wing in the OHL, and has played often on the left side for the Sting this season. In Montreal, he could likely play either position.

When it all comes down to it, analysts say Galchenyuk should be able to become a regular All-Star.

Bergevin believes Galchenyuk has star-material written all over him. Galchenyuk’s passion for the game is what Montreal’s general manager believes will help him succeed

Galchenyuk outscored all rookies at even strength last year, with 26 of his points coming when teams had equal numbers on the ice. Even though Yakupov and Huberdeau played more minutes at even strength, they scored 21 and 22 points respectively in these situations.

Being able to score more, with less ice time in a given situation, is why respected sources believe the Montreal Canadiens currently possess the best prospect in all of hockey.

  1. Alex Galchenyuk may still be a teenager, but it is almost a guarantee that he will be the face of the Montreal Canadiens in the near future.
The third pick in last year's draft, Galchenyuk is incredibly talented and impressively polished for a 19-year-old center. He has to get stronger, but he showed flashes of his playmaking ability this season for Montreal and is just a couple seasons from being a top-10 center in the league.

Yet I thought his game was full of flaws from the moment I started watching him. I never understood the hype.

Seems like you feel like I was targeting you...if the shoe fits, wear it.

Sumn’ like dat...he’s 18 and your observation is that a part of his game needs refinement.

Insightful stuff

I don't feel targeted at all, as Ive had Slafkosvky ranked high and fully acknowledged that his ceiling was great.

Im also unsure anyone ever said anything about his ceiling being low, and that was my question. Its like some of you are living in an alternative universe were criticism of Slafkovskys play is equal to doubting his ceiling, thinking he was a bad pick, a bad player, or what ever you want to call it. Then you come in and say things like "nOt AlL FiRsT oVeRaLl aRe cReAtEd EqUal" or sumn' like dat.

Very weird, unsure if Slafs dad is a complete womanizer and he had a Genghis Khan like run amongst Habs fans or something.

You sure?

Cause your response definitely seemed like you felt I was talking about you, since you seemed to have taken it personally.

That's cool, but I was speaking for myself and for those which I've had those exact debates with.

Again, if the shoe doesn't fit...don’t wear it.

Yeah you definitely feel targeted lol

That's not my issue, maybe you should have taken my advice after the rookie tournament and just put the clipboard down, cause now you're in your feelings.

Wdm im in my feelings? Ive literally been called stupid more than once because I said Slaf chilled out and probably gained a few pounds of fat in August. I dont feel targeted, Ive been targeted, like anyone that has had a single doubt about Slafkovsky.

The echo chamber has been insane around here.
