Can you post the source?

I've heard this multiple times, but just want to see.

Is there a verifiable source of where he said that and whatnot?

I am trying to find it. I think the source was either a slovakian or czech article.

To be fair. I think Jaromir praised him and said he would like him on his team, and that he plays a similar style to him. That's a far cry from comparing him to himself, and yeah.. I doubt he actually becomes as good as Jagr. Anyways we shall see if he pans out. Something about him seems very confident and competitive though, and although I was all in on Wright, I have to think that was a major factor in picking Juraj.

The more I think about this, the happier I am.

What an exciting prospect to get! The most exciting forward prospect we've had since f***ing Guy Lafleur.

Doug Wickenheiser in the conversation too obviously.

Yep… convince yourself of that when, while being a ghost he’ll be a ppg center for seattle while Slaf hardly scores 40 pts a year…

Maybe.

Let's see who performs in the playoffs though when it actually matters and who is coasting.

Let's see who's a PITA for opposing D to play against when the going gets tough.

Been watching highlights of this kid. He's big strong and fast. I think I'm in love...

What impresses me the most is the brutality of his explosiveness. His acceleration happens very fast, and combined with the size that's an incredible attribute.

Ppg center? Lmao even the scouts that were highest on him didn’t think that was likely.

This pick is a bet on Suzuki and Caufield, there are worse bets. Slaf is particularly good down low, Suzuki is particularly good bridging gaps and Caufield just fills the net.

If they have no chemistry (would be weird) he will be useful across the lineup much more than Armia - much better at possession. Slaf-Dach might be something intimidating as well, particularly if we can find some sandpaper like Dvorsky at some point. Then you have Slaf - Dvorsky - Dach ---> ouch.

Dach could play with Suzuki and Caufield as well as a winger, I'm sure they will try it as well. I don't dislike the options here, lots of upside, some risk.

Fully expect to see Slaf make the team. Curious where Drouin will fit.

Anderson - Suzuki - Caufield
Slaf - Dvorak - Drouin
Evans - Dach - Gallagher
Byron Poehling X

It will be exciting if nothing else.

Jagr on Slafkovsky:
"Of course, Jágr’s opinion on Juraj Slafkovsky’s 18-year-old Slovak talent was also interested in local journalists. The most useful player at the Beijing Olympics, where he also became the best scorer and the most productive player, should attack the highest places in this year’s NHL draft.

“Excellent player!” Jágr fired immediately and remembers that he saw the Košice native for the first time exactly a year ago, when he played against the Czech Republic in preparation for the World Championships. to find out what players the Slovaks have there, “recalls Jágr.

“I turned on the TV and Juraj Slafkovský was with the puck at the guardrail. He was very strong. I say to myself: enThis plays in a similar style to me, I want him on the team. ‘ And then I found out that he was seventeen and that I had absolutely no chance. I knew he would play in a much better team, “praises Jágr, the left wingman of the Finnish TPS Turku."

Looks like we were smart enough to pass on the Doug Wickenheiser this time.

Supposedly he's more NHL ready than Wright is but we'll see I guess. This team is going to be bad again this year so there's no rush.
I think he's still further away from the NHL than Wright. Another year or two is needed with Laval.

If scouts have proven me something this year it’s that they can’t project anything right.

We have extreme circumstances in COVID and they projected exactly the same way they always did. This 1st round is a really good example of that.

That is also why there are a lot more european that got drafted in the 1st. Because there development was less altered so for them projection was easier.

Ask all of those scouts about Wright prevision after his 1st OHL season…

Btw… I really really hope I’m wrong… we need that pick to count…

It's funny that his buddy Mesar said that he should work on his first couple of steps to become even more explosive.

Not sure what you see in Wright.

I wanted to get hyped for him, but watching his full games... I wanted Cooley at all costs.

A poster had mentioned that Hughes knew Wright/Cooley for the past 6 or 7 years. They must have saw something more with Slav.

I think it's probably his personality, and just the way he plays the game. For whatever his flaws, Slaf does challenge the other team. The other team has to physically stop him from doing what he wants.

Hockey IQ for tons… in an off year he put up 94 in 65 games… he’s sound defensively and a natural leader.

He makes his teammates better while going to low in his defensive zone conpared to other centers.

He can do everthing well and his shot is deceptive. And most of all, he can control the pace of the game. He can slow it down or accelerate but t at will to fit his teammates.

Players that can do that are rare and most of them are exceptional…

Like I said… I hope I’m wrong…
