All three of the leadership team were also among the first group named. Maybe they threw McAvoy a bone since some of the games are in Boston.Little surprising that Q Hughes wasn't one of the captains. Not saying their aren't many excellent choices but I recall people thinking he could be a contender for the C especially being one of the first guys named, but turns out he's not even an assistant.
I bring that up to say; I wonder if he's leaning towards sitting out - so they chose guys they know they'd have. I think everyone has seen the splint he's been wearing on his hand for awhile now.
People in Van are wondering about that anyways. I guess we will see.
Agree here especially with ticket sales not doing so great. McAvoy is good leader but there were other choices. Home team won out.All three of the leadership team were also among the first group named. Maybe they threw McAvoy a bone since some of the games are in Boston.
Ticket prices are of course crazy. No surprise there.Agree here especially with ticket sales not doing so great. McAvoy is good leader but there were other choices. Home team won out.
I wonder who makes the decision on the injured players, like Quinn Hughes, being replaced? If he’s at all questionable (aggravate what’s going on now during the tournament and be out and not replaced) does the US team have the choice to replace him, even if he might want to play?Quinn Hughes is up in the air at this point. I'd probably go with Sanderson if he needs to be replaced. He's playing very well.
Hutson or Sanderson is a tough call. If Hutson is a 4th pair guy and not playing powerplay then I don't think you bring him. Sanderson can likely slide into any role as needed a bit easier.Would be brutal to lose Quinn. He'll do everything to play, too, especially with his brother on the team.
If they did need to replace him, it'll be interesting to see their approach. Do they try to replace his style? If so, Hutson is the best choice. Or do they just ride with Werenski and Fox as the top PP QBs and go for whomever just missed the cut the first time and probably go with Sanderson.
Way too early for Hutson to be playing best on best. As talented as he is, he’d likely get eaten alive in this tournament.Would be brutal to lose Quinn. He'll do everything to play, too, especially with his brother on the team.

Werenski and Fox are more than capable of running the two powerplay units. Probably should be Sanderson if they need a replacement (could see an argument for Luke)
