If scouts have proven me something this year it’s that they can’t project anything right.

This is true. But I mean they've proven that for years. I don't think it's that they know nothing. They know this better than anyone else, that's why they have the job in the first place. But experts can be wrong, and no one really has a crystal ball. Remember when everyone wanted to 'fail for Nail'? Even people who spend their life studying the weather can't always predict it. Someone is going to be right in hindsight. This is how it works. It's a gamble.

Hockey IQ for tons… in an off year he put up 94 in 65 games… he’s sound defensively and a natural leader.

He makes his teammates better while going to low in his defensive zone conpared to other centers.

He can do everthing well and his shot is deceptive. And most of all, he can control the pace of the game. He can slow it down or accelerate but t at will to fit his teammates.

Players that can do that are rare and most of them are exceptional…

Like I said… I hope I’m wrong…

I didn't see much in the video I saw, not even flashes, to be honest...

Maybe he was playing too safe this year, idk.

fifth on the team in scoring is nowhere near bad, and a definite improvement that followed the post Olympics trajectory

It is reslly bad for a 1st overall… Otto Leskinen had a better production than him in the playoffs and he’s a undersized d.

Otto Leskinen is a 25 years old pro who was by far the best offensive D on the team. This is a beyond silly comparison

fwiw I wanted Cooley, but there's really nothing about Slafkovsky's year that makes this a disaster. Of course he needs to improve and put in the work, but it's easy to get why he's so appealing

People need to stop shitting on McCagg so much. I hate him as much as anyone but his opinion and his scouting are still valuable and now that Timmins is gone he's shown he can still get it right.

Grant's problem is his horrible attitude but that doesn't mean he deserves to be lynched like he was recently. I was disgusted by the thread made on the main draft board enough that I reported it and was extremely surprised to see it was still up. It was in poor taste and borderline slander.

Grant’s pick are almost always busts or bad take with hindsight. He was on the Scherbak, Kotkaniemi and Galchenyuk train.

The fact that he gets thing right for the Habs worries me even more.

He’s still a Defenceman that can’t make the NHL. Slaf is a forward… just imagine how far he is…

Kid performed very well in Olympics and World champioships, against men. Hopefully, even at once, we hit a home run in Draft. Please be true...

What was wrong with Wright when two other teams also passed him? Something killed the hype...

He didn't overwhelm this past year. Whether that's due to having an effective but not flashy style of play or whether he just won't be effective at the NHL level is what time will tell.

When Seth Jones fell, I remember a lot of scouts saying he came across as too passive and not aggressive enough in interviews. What a terrible way to assess a player. But, his year was stacked in the top 3, with McKinnon and Barkov.

It’ll be very toxic quick if he doesn’t start out great. Especially if Wright ivth does well up doing well.
Its very possible Wrigth does well in Seattle. Not our worries anymore.

You on the board with Unicorn?

Apparently, he didn't have the spark in his eyes to become the best ever, that's honestly the vibe I got after all this time.
I would say thinking he was the best rather then wanting to be the best.

He looks like Drouin. And even if he turns out to be an awesome player we just couldn't get someone who looks that similar to Drouin. I mean imagine if there was a highly ranked player named Dronathan Jouin. The habs could never bring themselves to draft him.

Seriously though, someone said he has Drouin vibes in another thread. And I can kinda see that. Not that that necessarily means anything. Vibes are maybe not the best way to analyze a player. But I think it comes down to the fact that he doesnt look like the most intense player out there. Now that could be an actual lack of intensity, and it could be that he just isn't a flashy player. Anyways, it's done now. We shall see.
