Exactly. All these posters that defended Wright blindly from the legit criticisms being thrown his way on this forum last few weeks are suddenly surprised and are asking what the NHL teams saw that we *couldn't*.

Some of us could.
I'm going to support the pick no matter what because I'm a Montreal Canadiens fan originally and not a players fan but just because they went with Slafkovsky tonight over Wright doesn't mean they made the right choice yet...

It will take some time, it could eventually turn out to be a big mistake...

Well, now I can't wait to see him play. I am kind of intrigued to see why Jagr sees him as a comparable player to himself.

I said it before the draft that no matter who the Habs draft, I would wait 3 years to judge the pick. No point in getting overly mad or happy right now.
I still remember people freaking out similarly when we selected Carey Price 5th overall. It was downright nasty around here.

Is he really staring the Habs table? I doubt he can see much with all the cameras pointed at him, and it woud be totally out of character.

He's just resetting every pictures. Has to be f***ing stressful.

Maybe, maybe not. He did like a post on instagram pointing out his habs staredown

Absolutely.

Lol the guy you quoted was responding to me, but I wasn’t in the Wright camp. I was critical of both, but came to the conclusion that Wright had even more bust risk than Slafkovsky.
I was referring to his response to "themilosh" not you bud. I'm aware which side you've been on during this whole debate.

I myself can't claim to have been in the "Slaf camp". I was hoping for Cooley myself but I 100% did not want Wright.

You did stick with him til the end, you deserve credit. 👍

I hope he'll become a beast.

Yep, he called the mistake first… i’m sick and tired of choosing high bust and that is what we did… 3 times in a row that we actually reach for it also… we are cursed… now i understand why gorton can’t draft to save his life…

I was the same as you, pretty much. Can’t say I’m too excited about Slaf, but Wright was a DND for me in the end. I would have been fine with any of Slaf, Cooley, or Nemec. All have question marks. I’m just glad they didn’t take Shane Wright.

It was a tough draft to analyze. If you’d have asked me 2 months ago how I’d feel if the Habs passed on Wright, I’d have been livid just thinking about it. It seems a lot of posters here don’t even watch much of the prospects and just go by emotion and things like team need rather than thinking critically or analyzing anything.

Montreal made the right pick IMO. You guys aren't competing next year and have a great shot at Bedard/Michkov. Slaf's physical tools upside is tremendous and he has the puck skills to boot. Even if it takes 2-3 years for him to realize his potential you're looking at a HUGE and hard to play against top 6 six with size and skill to boot.

New Jersey asked Slaf yesterday how important is it for him to be #1 and his answer was "at the end of the day it doesn't really matter...at the end I want to be the best player from this draft"

What an absolute beauty...interview for anyone who cares to see it

Oh yeah and that was clearly evident when he was drafted; that’s why he went 4th overall just like Wright lmao. Their draft year production is virtually identical.
Actually I concede that the Kilger/Wright comparisons may have some merit. My sources tell me that Wright is so upset that the Habs didn't draft him that he has requested a leave of absence from Seattle and is now considering a career as a firefighter.

Chad approves.

Can you post the source?

I've heard this multiple times, but just want to see.

Is there a verifiable source of where he said that and whatnot?
