Yup, and with OTT/BUF/DET being ahead of us in their rebuild, it'll take some magic from HuGo or many of those top teams crashing hard for us sniffing some playoffs anytime soon.

But missing the playoffs doesn't always rhyme with a top pick, unfortunately.

Yeah, that's why I wanted Wright like most people. Though actually today I was kinda leaning Cooley a little. I think all of that talk about Wright's lack of intensity was starting to strike a chord with me. And while Wright (or Cooley) may end up better than Slaf, I have to think that all these scouts who had him at no. 1 had to see something in him, and I am sure there is more to it than a couple hot tournaments. Like I mean if we are able to figure that out, surely pro scouts are. At least I hope so. Jagr was pretty high on him, too.

Wake up call? Everyone with a brain has known Molson is the problem for a long time. And MB was absolutely a problem, but guess who was responsible for that.
 
OK well I'm utterly surprised to see us take Slaf, however all risk considered this is a HUGE addition to our prospect pool. The fact that Wright dropped even further makes me feel a bit better.

Slafkovsky is our pick, and I have no plans to undermine it. Hope he becomes the monster power forward he has the potential to be. I think he has an interesting attitude as well. Seems very serious about being the best, which I think will go well with MSL's passion for getting better.

Don't put too much weight on AZ, they're out for desert lovers, which all american boy Cooley probably was more than Wright :sarcasm:

Hoping he's a stud and scores 40 goals in the NHL. Definitely not a rush with this team though, let him develop and at least we know he'll be given a chance to play in an offensive system. If Therrien or Julien were still here, he'd be killing penalties and playing on the 4th line for 4 years.

So you were just rude for the hell of it? His interview is why you soured? How on earth would you know how his interview went. Maybe you should have actually watched some hockey.
 
People need to stop shitting on McCagg so much. I hate him as much as anyone but his opinion and his scouting are still valuable and now that Timmins is gone he's shown he can still get it right.

Grant's problem is his horrible attitude but that doesn't mean he deserves to be lynched like he was recently. I was disgusted by the thread made on the main draft board enough that I reported it and was extremely surprised to see it was still up. It was in poor taste and borderline slander.

I had Slaf in my top 3, Margarita had him 1, many had him one or two

Not going to lose my shit over it. He projects where in line with that

Now i just hope he develops much like i would if Cooley or Wright were drafted by MTL
 
At the end of the day, COVID made scouting this draft almost impossible. Missed years, video only; etc etc.

Odds are the best player from this draft isn't even in the 1st round. Just an unlucky year to get the 1st pick, but hoping that Slaf turns into a top line winger and has a successful career.

Kid is so lame lol. I didn’t buy his good kid/humble act for a second. I knew as soon as I heard his combine interview he was a sneaky little weasel trying to sell a bill of goods lol. The kid has attitude/character issues, is entitled as f***, but at the same time is lazy and has no competitive drive, passion, or intensity. Bust.

How can I feel satisfied? We drafted a guy with little playing time and low number of reps. i Just don’t know if he thinks the game at the nhl level. I’m excited to see him play and I hope he’s a fast learner because my bet is he has a lot to learn.
