Doesn't he have to get to the plate before you're calling strikes?Swing and a miss...strike 3

Drawing conclusions from sparse data is not science. It's really just intuition.I'm sorry but what you just said is anti-science.
I don't know.
AZ, SEA and CHI are locks as bottom feeders.
Then you can probably add at least two of PHI/OTT/DET/BUFF/SJS at the bottom.
Then a couple injury unlucky team(s).
Then a team outside top5 jumping up from draft lottery.
A top 5 is far from a given next season. I'll be happy if we get one but certainly wouldn't bank on it.
10 points in 31 games. There's your #1 overall. Only reason he wasn't 12th or something is he went on a 7-game streak where he scored 7 goals. That's one hell of a leap of faith to put your eggs in that basket, believing those 7 games represent his actual level. Very odd, makes no sense, etc. I'm not emotionally invested into the game anymore but this move is so unnecessarily risky, bizarre, and irresponsible (IMHO) that it actually irked me.The panic about picking Slaf is really silly. No he wasn't my preference but this isn't Lawson Crouse lol
I'm more upset about the Dach trade if I'm being honest...
Kudos to NJ for not panicking and going for Nemec at No2.
A lot of good players only score 10 points in those leagues as a 18 years old. He was playing on the third line I think, because he's 18 years old.10 points in 31 games. There's your #1 overall. In reality, it isn't him who's got a lot to prove but the GM needs to justify this pick with some fantastic productivity because if Cooley and Wright are very good and Big S is a bust all the way, he'll be a laughing stock and rightly so. Ballsy pick. We'll see how it pans out.
Lol what? You lost your mind on me yesterday when I said that Slaf was the pick and not Wright. Unbelievable. When did he say that? I knew I didn’t like his interview at the combine, could tell he was putting on a front. He’s lazy and soft too. Glad they didn’t pick him.
Cant see? Seriously? Was obvious as hell when you watched him.Well.. i swung and missed on #1 pick... and while Ive always liked slaf, i was more annoyed that we have to witness wrights entire career, a wouldve couldve.. like is Slaf the next wickenheiser?..
But now that Jersey takes NEMEC, we never have to hear the Wright comments, as hes been passed by "at least" 2 teams.
Wow, something must be glaring that we cant see.
Arguably, yes.I actually think we’re worse now than last year. We got worse.
Call it stupid, but I get bad vibes from Wright. Even that little frown he threw the Habs table is childish.
Idk, he might end up really good, but maybe just not the right CHaracter.
The discussions in the draft thread were not about who we will draft, they were about who we should draft. As with every draft, we don't know the answer on draft day, it takes a few years. Kudos to @Goldenhands, as his long-held opinion has been validated by Bob McKenzie's survey and the Habs themselves. But let's not anoint him King of anything until Slafovsky consistently produces better than anyone else in this draft. So is GoldenHands now King of the Montreal Boards for being right about Slafkovsky?![]()
I guess now is about the time you all get the wake up call.
The problem in Montreal wasn’t Bergevin it’s Geoff f***ing Molson.
The pick could work fine but 10 points in 30 games in LIIGA what the f***? If you don’t want Wright then trade the f*** down. Simple.
I actually think we’re worse now than last year. We got worse.
Arguably, yes.
But you never know, as there are too many teams in the mix is what I was pointing out.
Also with the parity, new coach, rebound seasons from some players, youngsters getting better, maybe less injuries, offseason not being over.
There are just too many factors to say we're guaranteed a top 5 pick next year with the league parity.
It's reasonnable to expect one, just not as sure a thing as some make it out to be with 32 teams + lottery in the mix.
It was childish... but, he's a proven player and a known quantity. Even if he's a bit of an ass, he was a much safer pick. I hope we didn't put too much weight on the interviews because that's a terrible way of evaluating somebody. I definitely wouldn't give it the same weight as actual gameplay.
All that being said... there were darts thrown at Wright all year long. And Slaf actually came out number one on Bob's list. So, I've gotta hope the scouts know what they're doing. It's a ballsy pick. He doesn't have the history that others do. I wouldn't have made this pick. But... it could work out for the best.
Let us pray.
Big time. Let's do it.I feel awful.
Slaf, make us eat a lot of crow.
That doesn’t mean I liked Wright lmao. Look through my post history if you don’t believe me. I was critical of both, but completely soured on Wright in the end. His interview at the combine started his downward slide for me.Lol what? You lost your mind on me yesterday when I said that Slaf was the pick and not Wright. Unbelievable.
Wot?After that Shane Wright “Montreal is a shithole“ tweet went public, It’s not surprising they didn’t take him.
