Nope, HSBC. You know, the people who got fined $2 billion by the Senate banking oversight committee because they wer laundering money for drug cartels and terrorists. Those guys.

Oh right. I thought bank, but then I remember you had a stint with the Seattle Evils and couldn't remember the timeline.

That's mentioned in some of our mandatory AML stuff we have to do at my job.

We used to have a bunch of mandatory AML stuff. The IT department who had nothing to do with any part of on boarding customers or any of that had really strict AML training. So after this happened, we had to show that we had changed our culture. Right. Bullshit nonsensical, phrasing, and in one of those “culture changing meetings“ I ask the people who are running it if the folks who had been responsible for signing off on all of these f***ing crooks and taking blood money from kidnappers and murderers and terrorists had been fired, including being willing to sign any length of NDA and being told that they couldn’t tell me that information. So I said I into the microphone so you’re telling me they’re still here and that the rest of us have to do all of this because they were greedy and they broke the law. I thought they were gonna walk me out that day, but I hung around for another four or five years. It was fun to have groupies for those meetings because I was so offended that I didn’t f***ing care if they sacked me. They took money from druglords in Mexico. These are the people who are kidnapping folks, chopping them in a little bits and sending them to their families. Truly grotesque humans, and for a few bucks, people I supported were willing to look the other way and do their banking for them. Completely f***ing morally bankrupt. Started looking elsewhere and had some fundamental problems with the entity I worked for to say the least.

Funny but I know the date of both my current relationship first date and the one for my ex as well. I was regularly the one who would bring it up and have date night around it in better times. It's even funnier that they are only a few days apart in May...
I got married to wife number one on August 19th. Got married to wife number two on August 21st. Got married to wife number three on August 17th.

Given that I've known her for 20 years this November I'm thinking that 17 must be my lucky number. For proof, a few days ago, on January 31st, she texted me and said - "We're going to the hockey game tonight".

I'm lucky, because we decided we were a couple on her half-birthday, so as long as I remember when her birthday is, I have the other covered as well.

My parents got married on my mum's birthday. I've never been able to work out how dad wrangled that

Smart man!

I’m a legit day older than my wife so if I ever forget her birthday I’ve forgotten everything and have bigger problems. I’ve always been pretty decent with dates so I’ve never had a problem remembering our anniversary thankfully.

Given that our first date was a week before Valentine's Day, it makes it easy to remember.

And we like to focus on tomorrow over Valentine's Day because it is more personal to us and our relationship as opposed to a generic holiday.
Neither me nor my wife give a flying fig about Valentine’s Day. Her response when people ask why she doesn’t care about it the way a lot of women do is “it means more to do something special because you want to or were thinking about them rather than Hallmark telling you to .” I sometimes use it as an excuse to make us steak or something but that’s the extent we go.

Another airplane down. Third in 10 days after I just convinced the GF about how safe flying is and now there is this cluster of crashes.
Geez. I have a flight to Vegas in a couple of weeks. I'm always a bit anxious about flying. Still, it's probably an ultra-rare occurrence, but I'm worried. I wonder what's causing the uptick in crashes lately. Is it a certain company that's experiencing these crashes? I'll switch flights if I find out a certain airline company is seeing more issues than another. I know it's still stupidly rare, but I value my peace of mind a lot haha.

Also, my sisters-in-law's wife has received a resignation letter from the feds. She's going to try and fight it, but I doubt she'll get much out of that fight. They're really struggling right now.

FAA cutbacks. They laid off a bunch of air traffic controllers and department heads. Because it was “unnecessary spending and should be left up to the airlines.” Because we all know businesses wanna spend more money

2 of the 3 were smaller aircraft which usually have more incidents than actual airliners.

No idea why this latest one went down. Philly was notable because it was captured on video, but it was a small air ambulance. This latest sounds like it was a 10-passenger craft with a destination in Alaska.

It was small - a Cessna Caravan

Yep was a Cessna. . And was in Alaska from a family owned airline. Alaska has 1/3 of all aircraft incidents in the US and 20% of all airline fatalities. Which makes sense.

Unakaleet Alaska to Nome Alaska ... across Bering Strait. Unakaleet is a village of 800 that isn't accessible by land and Nome is a "city" of 3500 ...
