Just show me anything. Make me believe you want to get to the playoffs. Do something a playoff team would do.

Cimber being used now, nice.

Montoyo better be phoning in the decisions, otherwise he’s not the only bad manager on the staff.

No matter whats happening, only few more games of Montoyo hopefully.

I have a feeling that the team's performance late in the season will have bought Charlie another year. They probably don't get rid of him unless the team fails to make the playoffs next season or we get some Tim Johnson level shenanigans unearthed behind the scenes.

What exactly does management see in Montoyo? The Jays seem to be winning in spite of him

I don't think that baseball people are capable of perceiving a manager as having their team win in spite of them. It seems that the standard belief is that if your team is winning, the manager is doing a good job.

We've already seen Kevin Cash laud Charlie for the success of the Jays this season even though, by all accounts, he's a smart baseball mind that should be capable of recognizing the truth of a situation. And I don't believe that he or any other manager would be so duplicitous as to purposely pump Charlie's tires to the media as a means of keeping him around to sabotage the Jays and make them a weaker opponent. By and large most baseball people seem to be pretty straightforward.

I think he’s still friends with Charlie so that probably plays a part in it too.

Really gonna need Berrios to go deep next game and for the leadoff hitter to not go 0-5.

Springer had a 49 wRC+ in September heading into this game.

They were bound to cool off and these last 2 loses were a bullpen day and the #5 starters. Still those are the games a smart manager can win.

Hopefully with the Big 3 starter for rest of the series they can sweep where even Charlie can't screw it up

Charlie wasn't even managing today....

Yah because they have Ray, Berrios, Manoah starting in the next 3. Though I would rather manipulate it to save them for the Yankee series.

You are still going to get Berrios and Ray against the Yanks. Berrios is going tonight so next time will be Wednesday, and Ray is going tomorrow so next time will be Thursday. They can still go a rested Ryu, Berrios, and Ray against NYY. Although, I am scared of Ryu right now.

Since Springer came back for the Baltimore series on Aug 30:

.165/.258/.253 with a 42 wRC+. Among regulars, the worst hitter by a mile

You want to play him? Fine, but he shouldn't be leading off and getting the most ABs....

Yea, it's really important to have good legs to hit in this game. If you have bum knee, it will be very hard to put any kind of numbers. You can tell that he is trying to use his upper body only when swinging.
