Lol. That doesn't make any sense. If it was easy to hit a ball wherever a batter want to hit it then it would obviously be a losing strategy for the defence to play the shift. No competitive baseball team is in the business of losing games. If batters like you mentioned were so good at placing a hit wherever they wanted then the defence obviously wouldn't play the shift against them.it actually is. Guys were doing until the numbers guys took over. Tony Gwynn, Tony Fernandez, Wade Boggs, Pete Rose would have field days with the shift. Problem is the guys are told to swing out of their asses as the numbers tell you to do damage vs little singles.
