I have noticed that Vladdy tends to go for the big stretch in situations where it isn't needed. I certainly appreciate the effort but in situations like that it increases the odds of him losing contact with the base. I'm sure that is something that will be addressed.

It's 1 thing if he has to stretch to catch the ball of not. It's another when he's stretching towards the thrower so he catches the ball one 1 hundredth of a second faster. The timing might work out once a year so that extra split second gets the runner, but you're going to cost yourself more than that by doing it. I would tell him to stretch to a point where he'd comfortably on, anything more than that is asking for trouble for very little gain.
