92 pitches in the 6th with your Ace on the mound. Time for a pitching change of course.
92 pitches in the first start of the year with a tough right-handed part of the order coming up for the third time against Ryu. It was the right move to make. If Charlie left Ryu in and he hung a change up that got put into the seats we would have been calling for his head.

How can you look at Vladdy at 1st and think we should put him at 3B. He is perfect at 1st, especially with his added athleticism. I don’t get all the big scruff about him playing 3B

Auston Martin should be playing 3B in a couple of years

92 = 115?
Let him get out of the 6th all
I’m saying.
Chatwood did his job.

I realize it’s game one.

But we all know this will happen later in the season too...

I don’t think Ryu needs to be babied.

But yes having a lockdown BP makes it an easier call to go to it earlier

I definitely have to concur. I missed baseball.

Haven't watched much hockey with how weird it's been but the combination of baseball being normal (and MLB the show coming out for Xbox) I'm happy it's back

It took Chatwood 15 more pitches to get out of the inning so finishing the 6th could easily approach 105-110. Considering he had only built up to like 80 pitches in the spring 92 is about right. Cole threw 97. Those are normal numbers for the 1st start of the year. Middle of July it's an issue. Expecting your ace to throw even 100 is the first start of the year is pushing it.

I really like the way the Blue Jays lineup matches up against Green so let's see if they can take the lead and hand it over to the bullpen.

"A guy gets thrown out the next guy might hit a double"

Ummm, a double that likely scores the guy from 1st who just got thrown out instead doesn't seem like a logical reason why it's ok if you get caught more being aggressive.

As for the Ryu stuff, to add on to the point already made you cant also expect him to go super deep/into triple digit pitch counts when it's literally game 1 of 162.

If anything, the weaker a lineup is, the more willing I am to take risks to score runs.

Buck Martinez everybody

Bunts and getting caught stealing are two of the dumbest things you can do.

Charlie loves both so much.

Sac bunts, specifically. I often feel the need to point out there's nothing wrong with trying to bunt to get on base.

Yeah, I meant sac bunts or bunting for a hit when there isn't a shift.

People think he's an analytics manager and does that kind of shit constantly.

Jeter would've gotten that out. Even if the runner was clearly across 1st. Because he's a winner.

He also would've done it as a jump-throw.

Jeter would have told the 3rd baseman to play more up the hole, and they would have made an easy play. I say they, because despite the 3B making the play Jeter gets all the credit.
