WC: 2021 Sweden Roster Talk

People can say whatever they want about this team but with players such as Wingerli - Friberg, Lindberg - Lindholm - Klingberg, Lööv, Dahlbeck and youngsters like Sellgren, Johansson and Lundkvist there is no doubt the grit and heart is there unlike that 2019 team.

It does seems like Garpenlöv dont want Rasmus Andersson. Jonathan Pudas is better he thinks, lmao. I hope we end last in our group and the whole staff gets fired.

My dream:

Head coach, Roger Rönnberg
Assistent coach, Ulf Dahlen
Assistent coach, Ulf Samuelsson

Forgive me? It (seek you) was not a death threat. I was upset from your post. You appear (to me) dangerously narcissistic using the forum like that. Using the goodwill of others here. Admit instead that you were way over the line instead of writing you "forgive me". I feel sorry for others here, me having to explain things that is the result of you stepping over the line. I have wrote on these forum for over ten years never having experienced something like this. I fight to keep these forums vivid and attract others.

You can keep writing about hockey instead of making remarks on another person.

I would be interested to see Sam Hallam as the coach as well. But the truth is that the federation doesn't pay anywhere near the SHL teams, so it will be hard to get a competent coach

Would rather see Sam get a shot as the first Swedish coach in the NHL.
 
It would be great if Höglander could join. He has played a crazy amount of hockey this stretch (SHL, then to the NHL and now a WHC?). But if anybody can do it, it's him. He's like a machine. He works really hard off the puck and has finishing skill, a perfect second liner. He's a top player in the NHL this season in takeaways and hustling/ 60 minutes.

The big problems for this team are the centers are weak, the defense lacks depth and the goalies? Well... not my first choices, but I guess they'll do. Anything more than a QF exit would be a success in my eyes.

This is a weak team on paper, so they shouldn't feel much pressure except their own.

I wouldn't be shocked if this team won gold. There's nothing sexy or good about this roster but the same can be said about all other teams this year. It's pretty wide open.

Coaching is my biggest worry as always. Grönborg had never coached a senior team before he took over as head coach. Garpenlöv hasn't even been a head coach before he got the job. They are all buddies though so that's good.

Smart move by Garpenlöv to go with 2 grinding lines and not play Berggren-Wingerli-Fröden.

Jesus f***ing christ. And we are stuck with this loser for years and then the biggest loser ever will take over, Monten.

Im giving up. Im done with Tre Kronor. I cant take this shit anymore. Goodbye everyone.

It dawns on me more and more how utterly useless Garpenlöv is as a coach. I know Swedish hockey has a small tradition to find the worst coaches they can find (except for gems like Rönnberg, I like him), but the national team? Hardy, BÅG, Montén and now Garpenlöv. Utter garbage. But Garpenlöv takes the cake. He willingly destroys the only combinations he has that actually works, he just not traditionally useless at picking the players. What he favours in players I have no clue about, because he keeps clowns and sacks players that can actually fulfill a role.

For example, destroying the Skellefteå line was an idiotic move. Kind of like BÅG leaving Holmström out of the ordinary lineup in 2006 and picking Hanulla ahead of Hedström or even leaving Ronnie Sundin (or whatever his name was) ahead of a reputational NHL defenseman.

Second of all, putting Lundeström in a 1st line role. What the hell was he thinking? He's a fringe NHL player. He's young and not overly talented, 3rd or 4th line, fine, but this? What the... he's not exactly an Elias Pettersson or a Zibanejad, is he? Talented snipers with a mediocre NHL center, what did he think would happen?

As an example, why not play Nils Lundkvist with his teammate in Luleå Erik Gustafsson? They are a very good D pairing together and they have chemistry. Instead we get Tömmernäs looking like a moron beside him. Gustafsson is better than Tömmernäs, so what is the problem? What is Tömmernäs even doing on the roster and how the hell did he become the captain? And that's just the start of the Garpenlöv headaches.

This all starts with the coaching and team selection. It was a clown show before the tournament even begun. You could imagine the federation would wake up after losing against GERMANY in an important international game, but no. That whole old boy club has to be cleaned out.

Agree, my excitement for the Olympics has dropped significantly knowing that Garpenlöv will likely be the coach...

Hopefully the players might do it themselves. I've heard that's what happened during 2006 Olympics, it was full of experienced players like Lidström, Forsberg, Sundin, Alfredsson and they needed minimal coaching. When Sweden wins, we win despite the coaching, not due to the coaching
