WC: 2021 Sweden Roster Talk

Today Holmberg mentioned that he is currently expecting and wants to play in SHL next season. Of course that could change if his WC is really good, but we will see.

If he doesn't have an NHL-out clause it does block you and even if does have it (which I suppose we can't know for sure) he has to be dead set on leaving now instead of next year which wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

In any case, saying his contract doesn't matter it's just flat out wrong.

Pretty much every contract has an NHL-out clause, though. Idk if I've ever heard of one that doesn't. He can go to camp and either go back to Sweden if he doesn't make it or play in the A. Doesn't have to be dead set.

I hope that he is just playing coy and one player from Vancouver or Calgary has accepted and he doesn't want to announce it yet, otherwise it is just embarrassing. How can you you not keep track of how many players you have in your squad? Put them in an Excel sheet and count for ffs, it is not hard!

Yes, that is how you get recruited into the old boys club. It is between Montén and Ragnarsson for the next coach. That is how it works u18 coach -> u20 coach -> assistant coach -> coach. If the Swedish Federation by pure chance would stumble on someone talented, they will be snapped up by an SHL club before ascending to Tre Kronor coach, like Roger Rönnberg

0% chance of a Cal/Van player... Considering they played their last game today, and only player missing being an injured Pettersson. Garpen... Well... He played hockey well.

If he was able to he'd be calling in somebody going "hey, so, want to be our last reserve far down the depth chart? If an NHLer after the first round agrees to come, you're out! Also, you'll have to quarantine for 5 days. During which an NHLer can agree and you'll be sent home directly after the quarantine is completed", not the most charming spot to pitch, is it?
 
Wouldn't rasmus andersson be interesting to see at the wc? Even höglander would be fun to see.

Definitively! Andersson would be instantly be our best defenceman and Höglander a top-6 forward. Surely Garpenlöv must've invited them, but we haven't heard anything official about the Vancouver and Calgary players. Newspapers have confirmed that Backlund and Lindholm have declined, and Pettersson is obvisouly injured. The others we don't know about. There are at least Calgary players who have accepted for other nations, so there will probably be some flight pre-arranged for those players were we could book spots for Andersson and Höglander. I know that officially national teams are not allowed to officially invite players until their regular season has ended, but we know that 4 Flames players will go (Dubé, Magiapane, Nesterov, Mackey), so other teams disregarded that. Wouldn't be suprised if Garpenlöv hadn't even called them yet, since he is Swedish and we sheepishly follow the rules

Uh? I expected Sörensen to be quite an important forward for this team Sweden. Maybe he was not yet released from the quarantine, or was released just today and needs some more days of practice?
 
Lines against Denmark imo:

Reidenborn (should start)

Pilut - Dahlbeck
Tömmernäs - Lundkvist
Lööv - Nygren

Would be foolish to have Lööv and Dahlbeck on the same pair, they are the only stay-at home d we have in the team. Pudas must not play.

Rakell - Lundeström - V.Olofsson
A.Kempe - Holmberg - Sörensen
Rasmussen - Wingerli - Friberg
Lindberg - Lindholm - Klingberg

Mario Kempe is horrible. Just stay on the bench man.

On that list Sellgren is not on the roster, while he is on IIHF. Would be hilarious if Sweden accidentally registered Sellgren instead Sörensen :sarcasm:

Well, nothing should be suprising anymore with swedish coaches.

I rather have Sellgren than Pudas btw, thats for sure.
