This draft is so weird... we are less than a week away from the draft and McKenzie has Hughes dropping to us @ 8.

McKenzie himself says Clarke/Hughes could crack the top 5 and it wouldn't be surprising. Reminds me a little bit of 2010 where 4-13 was wide open. McKenzie's ranking that year:

4. Fowler (went 12th)
5. Gormley (13th)
6. Johansen (4th)
7. Niederreiter (5th)
8. Connolly (6th)
9. Campbell (11th)
10. Skinner (7th)
11. Forbort (15th)
12. Burmistrov (8th)
13. Granlund (9th)

That's not a mock.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

I’m excited about getting a good player, but I just have no idea who that player will be. It could be any one of 8 guys. I just can’t get invested in one.

I have a feeling if Yannetti does not get someone he wants at 8, he and Blake have already been talking to teams in 10-14 range to drop back...to get Coronato or Cossa.
Just a feeling. My best draft call was 2 years ago - pre draft predicting Avalanche would get Byram at #4 and Newhook at #16. Happened.
Maybe they just go off the board and take one of them at 8.

OMG!!! Last night, post #1332 at 2:54 AM I called it : THE AVS GET BYRAM AND NEWHOOK::::

"""Get exclusive coverage and an in-depth look at the 2019 NHL Draft this Friday at Blake Street Tavern! Join Altitude Sports Radio 92.5FM Marc Moser, with Raj and Springer, live from 6 – 9pm for the Avalanche NHL Draft Show! The ColoradoAvalanche holds picks #4 and #16 in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft. You don’t want to miss it!"""
If the Avs get Byram at 4 and Newhook at 16, I will be pissed! Or more jealous.

I've written stuff on several prospects the Kings could target, as well as my thoughts on how they fit the Kings. Will be trying to get more content (some are still in the queue).

My thoughts: they will get a good player at 8. Of course, they have explored the cost of trading up as well as options trading down, because that's what all teams should be doing.

Hoven usually puts up an article the day of or before the draft, so hopefully there will be a clearer picture.

I have been focusing more on later picks to try and provide content for those interested.

However, if it's an expected first-round pick and no article, I would be shocked if the Kings took him.

Anyway, here's one which was reviewed recently and I just published it: 2021 NHL Draft Preview: Defenseman Jack Peart, USA

So you’re sayin’ Forbort was a steal at 15 …

… Thank you! I’ll let myself out now…

I think you are right. Cossa fills a need. I think they probably have a target not on anyone’s radar.

Trading honestly makes the most sense.

You think THAT's crazy??? Three years before there was any kind of announcement for the name "Vegas Golden Knights", I wrote somewhere on this board "Vegas Knights".

LoL, where's MY NHL franchise??? I already think too much like those rich f***ers.....

I am just hoping that Guenther falls to the Kings. I think he has superstar potential and brings an aspect the Kings prospect pool lacks outside of Kaliyev. I think he'd be a great wingman for Byfield/Turcotte/Vilardi.

Guenther would be great, but can't see him falling to 8, unless possibly, 2 or 3 of: Johnson, Edvinsson and Wallstedt go top 7. Because Power, Eklund, Beniers and Hughes will certainly go top 7.
Think Clarke, Guenther, McTavish will go top 7. I want to see one of: Guenther, Clarke or McTavish be there at 8.
