We need a defender for sure. We might end up with Wallstedt and than it might be Jon Bernier all over again.

Years of development and ready for the big show but another goalie (Quick) already got the #1 job.

As statswatcher, I am very intrigued by the numbers of both Chaz Lucius and Mason McTavish.

9 goals in 13 games in a very strong pro league like the Swiss, is really something.

Chaz intrigues me too

I think Mctavish is my favorite player in the entire draft. If we can't land a D man he's really who I'm pulling for at 8. The guy just screams playoff hockey and would fill a void for us as a legit power forward who can fill the net. I think he'd be a great replacement for Brownie. Here's his U18 tourney highlights.

He would be fun in a line with Turcotte and Fagemo. Talk about relentless players with grit and skill

No trading for players signed for only 1 year.

<insert Dad voice>C'mon guys, you know this.

::cough:: Lucic all over again here.

Except Lucic was 28, and a given 6 mil plus long term deal waiting to happen, when we only had 3 mil in cap space. Tarastinko would be a better comparrision of poor asset managment to get a guy.

I'm not into losing good prospects for 1 year of player is more of my point... especially when we are a few years away from contending (minus the whole our division sucks ass and we can potentially make the playoffs thing).

Yeah, that is a big risk. I think Blake said somewhere if they make a deal for a young dman, he has to have term. I'd be looking for 2 to 3 years at least or know they can sign him to an extension.

I don't think Blake needs my convincing, it's more for the fantasy GM's we have on here that act as if history doesn't repeat itself.

1 Guenther
2 Beniers
3 Eklund
4 Hughes
5 Clarke
6 Power
7 Lucius
8 McTavish
9 Wallstedt
10 Johnson
11 Sillinger
12 Coronato
13 Edvinsson
14 Lambos
15 Cossa

my final rankings....(that mean absolutely nothing) just based on watching vids, reading Pronman, Wheeler, some Craig Button, Cam Robinson, Kyle Woodlief
and watching all the scouching vids. I have come to the conclusion that Owen Power is not great at anything and that Clarke and Hughes have more upside.
Guenther, Beniers, Eklund all pretty close. Lucius underrated and McTavish better than I had given him credit for. The Kings should get a great prospect at #8.

Ballsy predictions there PJB, I like it.

Pronman did a 7-round mock draft I added to OP: NHL Mock Draft 2021: From 1 to 224, Corey Pronman projects all seven rounds

Summary for LA:
Brandt Clarke, RHD, Barrie-OHL (8)
Justin Robidas, C, Val-d’Or-QMJHL (49)
Vladislav Lukashevich, LHD, Yaroslavl-MHL (72)
Ryan Winterton, C, Hamilton-OHL (89)
Daniil Pylenkov, LHD, Podolsk-KHL (109)
Peter Reynolds, C, Saint John-QMJHL (136)
Thomas Milic, G, Seattle-WHL (168)

There are some decent choices. Clarke's among my favorite prospects for the Kings to take at 8. I have him closer to 1st overall than 8th.

I like the Robidas pick. He wouldn't be my first choice. But he's captain of Val-d'Or (Jordan Spence's team). Captaining to QMJHL finals as an 18 year-old is impressive. Small but skilled and hardworking forward.

Edit: though I don't think Pronman is aware of how few Russians the Kings take historically, and he has them taking 2.

Milic is interesting. As again, the Kings are expected to take a goalie.

I wouldn't be surprised if we take Jesper Wallstedt with the 8th pick (if available). Carey Price was drafted 5th overall and Andrey Vasilevskiy was also a first round pick. You can't win the Stanley Cup without a stellar goalie and Cal Petersen is really good, but not elite. I think it will come down to Wallstedt or McTavish at #8.
I agree only if all four d-men are gone!

I think McTavish is my first choice barring some colossal fall by one of the dmen.

Kings are going to have to do something to address their lack of organizational goaltending depth.

Petersen is a UFA after this season, and we have nothing in the system.

If the Kings staff likes Wallstedt, I won't be surprised at all if they take him.

So essentially. Trade our 8th.

I’ve come around to idea. If he is the guy, I won’t complain that much ;)
