From what I've read (and I know our two resident experts will correct me if I'm wrong) but Raty has developed as a two-way guy.

I would say he can be a more skilled two-way/playmaker, but he needs to show it more. I for one thinks he had a bad season, but he needs to prove to the people what he is capable of.

ATM, he seems like a good bet for middle-6 center duties...

In the same interview Buttons said his 2021 NHL Draft Ranking list will be revealed on the 8th of this month. He dropped a teaser for his top six:
1) Owen Power
2) Brant Clarke
3 & 4 is still up in the air between Matty Beniers and William Eklund
5) Luke Hughes
6) Fedor Svechkov

Clarke was also a guy that Gorton and company had ranked very high. At the time it was said that they think he very well could be the best defenseman to come from this draft.

Already we're seeing just how all over the map ratings are this season. You've got Svechkov at 6 for Button, somewhere around 30 on McKenzie's mid-season poll, 54 on RLR's final rankings, and he's somewhere in the mid-teens to early 20s for a several people I know.

Think that's the highest I've seen Svechkov... and before Wallstedt?

I've had Clarke being a contender for No. 1 all year long so this makes sense.

As for the rest of the rankings, I agree. Players are, and will be, all over the place up until the day of the draft.

Some teams in the 10-45 range are going to land an absolute stud. Like everyone is saying, the rankings are all over the place and don't think for a second that teams individual rankings aren't all over the place as well.

I mean, Bob's rankings are gonna be the best that we get from a realistic standpoint so we'll see.

Definitley abnormal for sure...

Trade down please. I almost don’t even care how the board breaks. Stack tickets.

I think it depends on who is available and who NYR is targeting as "their guys". I've heard that Drury is more inclined to take risers rather than fallers, but we all won't know for sure until after a couple of drafts with him at the helm.

Trading back should be on the table, though...

I'm still in the camp that they should move the pick for immediate help, but we'll see.

Someone is going to see Clarke and think they are going to get their version of Adam Fox

Im sure they were convincing themselves to draft another D man. No wonder why they got fired.

What prospect Brandt Clarke's skating questions mean for the NHL team that drafts him

The article is pretty long, so I won't get into the details. Anyone who has access can read it. This bit sums it up:

“I also think it’s part of his game,” Stewart said. “He’s not your typical smooth, flow-y skater, but I think that lends to the deception that he plays with. I think that at times, opponents will think they’ve got him in a spot where they can check him, and he seems to find a way to get out of it. I don’t see it as as big of an issue as what some people do.”

Especially with the puck, there’s a real logic to that. But defensively, especially when going backward and pivoting, the team that drafts Clarke may need to plan for adjustments to his technique, and possibly tactics, in addition to strength.

Just wondering if you see issues with his skating and if you think they are correctable, and/or he can make adjustments to his game to minimize his weaknesses.

I’m a little confused by how he spells Brant. Is the random ‘d’ because he’s so dang good defensively?

Black book is officially out, and just from a quick scan of it, i think i spent my money wisely.
Top 5 Ranking is (in order)
Power
Eklund
Edvinsson
Beniers
Sillinger

Some other names we've discussed here: Svechkov (14), Lucius (16), Pinelli (27), Chibrikov (31), L'Heureux (37), Raty (56)

Odd... I've never had issues with his skating. He seems to blow by most of the competition in Slovakia. I could see what they mean by his backwards skating, but I don't think it's atrocious.

Think this article is reaching a bit here...

That seems even more out of left field than Redline... Sillinger at No. 5? How is Chibrikov that low...

Ugh... this draft is going to eat me alive I can see it already...

Could you happen to post the full 1st round?
