Is anybody else concerned about the lack of competition in our group. Slovakia, Switzerland and Germany aren't exactly gangbusters to begin with but aside from Switzerland all our competition are now losing top players for odd reasons Germany is missing Seider, Slovakia is missing Cajkovic and Finland is missing Puistola. The first competition we might face might be in the quaterfinals or semis.
Imo on paper Canada, Sweden and the US are quite clearly the top 3

I'll take the easier games and hopefully htose are enough of a tune up to get them ready for the better teams in the playoffs. The Canadian team is stacked but barely any of them have been playing at all, vs a team like Sweden whose players have all been playing in pro leagues for hte most part. Get a few easier games out of the way with an almost guarantee of winning the pool is a good thing

I just wish we didn't have to wait until NYE for a tough game. I'm someone who believes a round robin loss goes a LONG way to building a Gold Medal Team.

Since the players should be back on the ice tomorrow it will be interesting to see what the plan is. I wouldn't be surprised to see the cuts come in very soon or to see everyone stick around for scrimmages until next weekend.

Any recent on line Team Canada projections?
I haven't seen anything too credible recently. Hoping we get something decent from practice in the next couple days.

I'm curious if they keep the D-Z-T line together after it worked so well in that scrimmage

I think tomorrow is the end of the 14 day quarantine right? I wonder if all/most of the cuts are made tomorrow?

So what lineup are we looking at?

McMicheal - Dach - Cozens
Newhook - Krebs - Quinn
Tomasino - Byfield - Mercer
Holloway - Zary - Poulin

Byram - Drysdale
Harley - Schneider
O’Rourke - Barron

Garland
Gauthier

I think Newhook and Krebs will end up on the same line. They’ve had success playing together for Canada before.

It would be pretty hard to leave Rees off, the way he has been playing. Perfetti will also be tough to cut with his body of work. I'd take either of those two over Poulin, maybe even Quinn.

I also don't see O'Rourke making it over Guhle and Robertson. Barron would not be a lock, either, by any means. It really depends on how Team Canada sees it's roster as a whole, and where the pieces fit.

Some really good players will be cut. Many countries would be thrilled to have a D group of Hunt, ROR, Hunt, Sebrango, Millman, Spence and Cormier, but it's entirely possible that none of them will make this team.

2 more intrasquad games between Wednesday and Friday is the plan. The tweets are in a thread.

McMicheal - Dach - Cozens
Newhook - Krebs - Tomasino
Rees - Byfield - Quinn
Perfetti - Lapierre - Mercer

Not likely, but this is what I'm hoping for from the forwards.

Connor Zary needs to be shoehorned in there somewhere.

I think too many people have Zary as a lock because of a couple of secondary assists and an empty-net goal in an exhibition game playing on a line with arguably the best player going into this tournament.

Not saying Zary isn't a good player or doesn't deserve to be there, but I see him much closer to the bubble than a lock. Especially given some of the other players like Rees, Perfetti, Jarvis, Clarke, Quinn, and their full body of work. He's definitely taken a step forward but will still need to prove himself given the camp has essentially hit the reset button.

He's done as much as Quinn or Clarke , possibly Jarvis

Rees and Perfetti are ahead imo
