Can dual citizens get one of each?

The fact that you think the NHL or the NHLPA would allow either side to break a contract just shows how little you understand.
And of course Laf has the talent to be employed outside the NHL. But he has signed his ELC and therefore NYR has say on where he plays for the next 3 years.
Idk, but common sense and logic would say that teams at least somewhat monitor what their players are doing in the off season. Would be pretty bad business practice to let multi-million dollar assets do their own thing with no oversight
No, they still need permission from the team that holds their contract. It just would not look good what so ever if a team came out and said they were withholding one of their players.
Yes.
Contracts don't pause at the end of a players season and then start back up again at the next training camp. They are all year round.

Collective Bargaining AgreementNHL teams can't stop players from playing in the IIHF world championship actually, provided the team is not active in the playoffs and the player does not have a serious injury that prevents them from participating. That is in the CBA, but the WJC isn't so I would imagine that teams can hold players out. I would guess that New York would allow Lafreniere to go if he really pushed for it but I can imagine several reasons why he wouldn't.
This is what I found on in, and it looks to me that players under contract are still required to have their team release them for international play.24.6 For the IIHF World Championships, the Clubs shall permit a Player to play for his National team provided:
(a) The Player's Club either did not qualify for the NHL Playoffs or was eliminated in an early round of the Playoffs.
(b) No agent or representative of the Player's National team inquired as to whether the Player would be willing to play for his National team until after his Club was eliminated from the NHL Playoffs and any such inquiry was only made with simultaneous notice being given to the General Manager of the Player's Club and the Player.
(c) The IIHF or the Player's National team agree to provide such insurance to cover the remaining value of the Player's SPC.
(d) The IIHF or the Player's National team agree to provide such additional insurance to cover the Player's loss of earning capacity as the Player may require.
Finland will still be tough, and Germany does have some scoring despite the loss of Seider. If we do roll through the prelims without anyone offering a stiff challenge then we’ll just have to be able to dial it up when the real games start. That’s tournament hockey for ya!Is anybody else concerned about the lack of competition in our group. Slovakia, Switzerland and Germany aren't exactly gangbusters to begin with but aside from Switzerland all our competition are now losing top players for odd reasons Germany is missing Seider, Slovakia is missing Cajkovic and Finland is missing Puistola. The first competition we might face might be in the quaterfinals or semis.
Imo on paper Canada, Sweden and the US are quite clearly the top 3
The wording of that to me reads that they have to release them when those conditions are hit. Which means if a team is out or didn't make the playoffs that team isn't allowed to arbitrarily deny players going to international tournaments if they want to go and it doesn't conflict with their obligations to the team.Collective Bargaining Agreement
Can you show me were it says that?

Ok.You pasted exactly the part you're asking for. Teams cannot stop a player from going to the world championship if the team is not playing anymore and the player is healthy enough to play.
permit
verb
/pəˈmɪt/
- officially allow (someone) to do something.
The wording of that is pretty implicit that there are 4 reasons clubs are allowed to deny players going to international tournaments. An NHL team can not just come up with a team policy that none of it's players are allowed to attend any IIHF tournaments. I am really not sure how this is being misinterpreted.
I mentioned my concerns weeks ago. Usually, the 4th place finisher in a loaded division is a top team - seams to happen that way more times than not. The quarters could be scary for an untested team - I predict our quarter finals will be against either Russia or the U.S., both of whom will have been pushed/tested, unlike us.Is anybody else concerned about the lack of competition in our group. Shall
1. plan to, intend to, or expect to: I shall go later.
2. will have to, is determined to, or definitely will: You shall do it. He shall do it.
3. (in laws, directives, etc.) must; is or are obliged to: The meetings of the council shall be public.
4. (used interrogatively in questions, often in invitations):Shall we go?
You can learn a LOT from HFBoards! Hockey, immunology, AND legal theory!man, come to check in on my favorite juniors and I get a flashback of business law 1001 from another life 30 years ago.
Too bad Lafreniere won't be there. was hoping...but still a great looking team. anything short of an appearance in the GMG will be disappointing.

Was hoping to see discussion of the players with the team and any current developments. Sadly the USA thread is pretty much the same - all Jack Hughes.
My preview and roster prediction for McKeen's. It's unlocked for a bit!
