Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Not overly surprised that he won't be there. He proved last year that he was the best player in the tournament and now NYR want him to focus on their season. In other years I feel this would be more concerning, but I think this year's depth can make up for the loss of Laf by committee.

He had a satisfying tourney last year(even with the injury) but it still would be nice to see him play just because the NHL won't be playing during the WJC so why not watch more good players.
Can you really blame the Rangers for not releasing Laf?
The whole team Canada is in quarantine right now, and Alberta cases are skyrocketing. Seems like a very smart decision on their behalf.

I don't think their decision is based on COVID. And New York CERTAINLY hasn't shown the world how to deal with the pandemic by any means.

Yeah they did not base there decision based off of Covid. They are in America remember.

Not surprising about Lafreniere. You'd like to see everyone who isn't otherwise playing there but what can you do. The team still looks very strong at forward anyway, though there are plenty of questions at the moment.

Hughes isn't going. Was confirmed today as well. Robertson for the Americans hinges on the NHL making a decision.

I don't get it. Unless the NHL is playing on Jan 1st, and it looks like they are not, why not let the kids play?
They don't want the players to get injured is my first thought. The whole sit around and focus on the season explanation that is floating around is BS imo.
There is a bit of a difference between Hughes Laf and Robertson. Two 10a picks and a guy who fits more in line with Dach and some of the other guys we got going.

I don’t know if Rangers not releasing Laf is the right decision for the player, but it’s certainly the Wright decision for another potential 1st overall caliber talent to make this team...I still have Shane Wright making it, maybe I am out to lunch on this one but I feel he’ll be a 13th F at least and will get some games in.

I’d actually lump Dach in with Laf and Hughes, thought he outplayed Hughes last year.

Rather than lamenting the fact Alexis won't be there...be thankful the Hawks are in full tank mode and are letting their second line center participate. Can't believe they are letting Dach play.
Laf, Hughes and Kakko (and to a lesser extent Seider) all not going, man how disappointing. Even if Laf wasn't going, I'd still like to see the other eligible players be able to go in a weird year as this. It looked as though it would be as close to a true U20 best on best as we were going to get for a long time.
