Byfield has always been mediocre in best vs best tournaments thus far right? or am I mistaken? I heard Button mention it.

Because it seems like he's going to sit back and play a more conservative game..hence babysitting
Byram is better defensively though and rarely loses his positioning. You’ll see him jump into the play no doubt, but even then you’ll always see him regain his positioning before any damage is done. It’s what makes him so effective.

Final roster will be interesting because there are so many bottom-six types that are of a similar makeup ... Pelletier, Graeme, Krebs, Zary, Rees ... Hard to go wrong.

Still don't love the goalie decision.

This is a confusing comment. I agree that pairing them together is a little redundant but did you just suggest Drysdale being Byram’s babysitter lol? Byram was Canada’s #1D from a minutes played perspective last year in a pure shutdown role. He’s the best D prospect in the world. He certainly won’t need a babysitter.

I think he means Drysdale is sitting back and covering more defensively while Byram is rushing and looking for more offensive opportunity. If Drysdale is gonna be a bit neutered playing with Byram, it could be nice to have the 2 of them out there for almost the entire game on different pairings. I also dont tihnk hes the clear cut best D prospect in the world but thatsnot really relevant to whats being talked about here.

The only tournament I saw him in, best on best, was the WJR's and he was the very definition of mediocre.

Yeah and you can throw the u18s the year prior into that mix as well. While guys like Perfetti and Lapierre were dominating, Byfield almost looked like a passenger at times.

Obviously put him on this team, youre not leaving a 2nd overall pick that is a returning player off the roster because of some scrimmage box scores after not playing in a long time but if I were a kings fan I would get worried if he has another mediocre showing at this tournament.

Also, Spence making it probably seals the deal for Sebrango getting cut. Oh well, he was a long shot I was just hopin he could squeeze his way in for the experience

Why do we know a few of the players who have made it, but not all the players?

Rees being cut means that every Team Canada forward is a 1st rounder in either 2019 or 2020, no? I thought Rees was going to be the only non-1st round forward to make the team, but he got cut in place of Suzuki, who was a 1st rounder in 2019.

Exactly. I'm sure there is another defenseman who can play that role alongside Byram, so he can do his thing. In the scrimmages I watched, while the pairing was always great when on the ice, Drysdale definitely deferred heavily to Byram in the offensive zone (as he probably should). It's not that I don't think the pairing works, it's just that Drysdale would likely excel if he was given more freedom on a different pairing.
