Kind of surprised they haven’t announced whether Schneider is suspended yet.

Also Lafreniere dominated this tournament a year ago. Byfield being #2 OA behind him, to me, shows how far ahead of the draft pack Lafreniere was. I know he’s also 10 months older, but still, dominated this tournament last year at 18 years old.

Bob McKenzie on Twitter: "The @IIHFHockey disciplinary committee at the WJC is having a hearing on Team CAN defenceman Braden Schneider’s illegal hit to the head in yesterday’s game vs. Germany . A decision on his status for today’s game vs. SVK should be forthcoming." / Twitter

His arm / wrist has a zigzag in it from when he broke it so he isnt gonna be back for a while

I meant in the beginning of the tournament and in his first game he played wing. I'm wondering why that is when he's a natural center and played center in the NHL

Bowen Byram: the most heavily criticized +8 performance in the history of hockey?

Welcome to playing for Team Canada. Our country lives and breathes hockey.

Besides a few high risk turnovers, he had a really good game I thought. Some of the criticism regarding the turnovers is warranted, but some of this other bashing is completely unnecessary.

Remember all the Comtois vile criticism... McDavid's right ..I hope these guys stay away from social media.. we can be cruel on our kids

I think it's completely fair to criticize play on a board like this. Some people take this way too far and use personal attacks. Success at this tournament means almost nothing when predicting NHL success. A lot of bad players had good WJCs and vice versa.

Comtois got death threats because he didn't score on a penalty shot. That's f***ing pathetic and anyone who would ever consider sending something like that to any athlete (let alone a 19 year old) is messed up in the head.

+8 is meaningless in that game against an undermanned exhausted opponent. What was glaring was the unnecessary turnovers that you can't do against worthy opponents. Hopefully he tightens up his game as we move forward. The tournament starts today for Team Canada.

Schneider is suspended for one game. Excessive but what was expected in an IIHF tournament. Holloway is also out for the Slovakia game apparently.

Tomasino in a bigger role.

Throw out German game. 4 goals in total against Russia and Slovakia with one of them being an empty net.

That is all.

I've seen people on Twitter citing stats from the German game (X has this many points. How are they playing poorly?) like it actually matters. If the German goalies could stop anything we score like 8 IMO.

Hes just defending his player when asked about him no doubt. Byfield had his best game vs Russia. And I agree with Tourigny if we are talking about that game.

He was good in the Russian game, but reverted back to that looping flyby stick check attempt which is unacceptable for Canadian forwards on the forecheck.

We need a lot more physicality from not just him, but all of our forwards. I said my piece in the GDT, I have a cooler head now but my point remains.

Every single one of the forwards need to cut the cute shit in the offensive zone and play fast, physical forechecking hockey. The scoring chances and skill plays will open up afterwards, you need to break the other teams will first and get their D men panicking when retrieving pucks.

The D core and Levi played really well defensively this game. Byram in particular probably had his best game in a Canadian sweater. He was outstanding defensively.

Not sure about Levi yet but I do think that the defence has potential to shut down any team. Drysdale is also clearly the best defenceman on the team in my eyes. I'm confident that the forecheck can be a force again as well, I think that they are still a bit off from their break and also taking some teams a bit lightly.

At forward they still need someone, or a line, to step up and take a leadership role. If anyone does it I'd guess it's Newhook and McMichael. Also, I'm starting to get a bad feeling about Quinn. A coach giving favourable treatment to their club player is far less of an issue when it's a forward but I'd like to see him earn his spot in the lineup. Tourigny making him the "13th forward" for one practice is nothing but putting on a show.

Byram is a transition monster lol. It’s unfortunate that he made two turnovers in the first period of game 1 which seems to be all anyone remembers but he’s been great through two games outside of those 2 plays.

Drysdale has been unbelievable too. I didn’t think that pairing was a great idea but they’re actually using one another quite a bit. Byram deferred the puck more to Drysdale last night more than I’ve ever seen him use a partner which is exactly what Byram needs to do to play at the next level.
