There are many players on this team that are contributing or are capable of contributing if given ice time. If there are players not doing enough (perhaps Byfield) they need to be move down the lineup.
It is a short tournament. Can't give players too much rope. There isn't time for that.
He has like the 3rd lowest TOI for forwards already. Can't get much lower.

He definitely handles to puck well on traffic, which is a nice skill to have.

New lines:

Not sure how I feel about that. Zary has been one of our best all around forwards. Nothing flashy, but he's strong on the forecheck and has a clean simple game.

Would like to see Tomasino next to Newhook - I think those two could create most of our offense.

I suspect the Byfield line will be our 4th in terms of TOI.

vs svk they are decent.. was his best game so far ; 3 controlled entries out of 8 attempts is not good... If you mean 2/3 controlled exits ... that's the only positive across the two games

vs germany obiously, tired, depleted, and weak no zone exits and 2 controlled entries out of 7 attempts is nothing to write home about

He looked good in the game. Forechecked well. Don't see how Holloway is an improvement.

I thought he was bad against Germany but I agree he was one of the better forwards last game and against Russia. Suzuki has kind of shot up the lineup and I think it's more because of the guys on his wings than his actual play (From 12th/13th forward to 3C with 2nd PP and PK time).

Wish Canada would give Pelletier some better limemates. The gut is absolute hound on the puck and a great playmaker but looks like he will be stuck with the two most invisible players on the team

I'm biased but I thought he and Zary worked well together last game. If that line starts slowly maybe we see a change and they're reunited.

You had to clip the rest of the team to obscure the fact that only 5 players had better controlled entry %. And succeeding on 7 out of 8 entries while rotating in and out of lines is a pretty good game.

Quinn played well against Slovakia and it’s impossible to glean anything from the game against Germany.

I thought it was his best game.

Pelletier has shown signs of life but sometimes a player looks decent and just ends up on the line that isn't doing anything. The lines do look reasonable though. Zary should get some regular looks, he's shown good energy and sense so far.

I received $10 worth of scratch tickets for Christmas and won $12!!!!

You know what that means don't you???

Canada's gonna win GOLD !!!!

Yeah? Well I received some Gretzky beer for Christmas, and let me tell you it tastes like
mildly fruity piss
and is sort of a golden colour. Might be right up the alley of some posters. Perhaps that is an omen as well.

Beggars can't be choosers. If it's a sign that Canada wins gold, I'll take it.

With Sweden only beating Austria by 4, if Canada wins both their remaining round robin games, we should be the Top Seed after the quarters.

Yeah if Canada beats Finland then Canada is almost certainly the top seed should the team win its quarter-final match. Barring an upset in the quarter-finals though it likely won't matter all that much. Then again, upsets are not unheard of at this tournament by any stretch.

Yup.

IF we win the division with 12 points, we will likely play the Czechs in the quarters. After that, it will be a tough team in the semis and finals - we've got to play a tough team eventually.

If Russia loses to Sweden wouldn't we play them in the QF? The Czech will likely beat Austria so both teams would be 2-2 and the Czech's beat them in their game. That's a real possibility.

That's true. I assumed Sweden beats the U.S. in regulation - and that's a big assumption. There's a bunch of ways this could turn out including the Russians in 4th.

With the level of play I’ve seen from Canada so far, I’m not confident in their ability to make it through any of the top 4 teams in Group B in the QF. I’d give them no better than a 50/50 shot to beat whoever’s in 3rd/4th on that side.

I hope they can get things rolling so they don’t end up with a big surprise once the elimination round starts.

The biggest issue is not really playing a top flight team until it truly matters in the knockout rounds. I don’t love the idea or potential outcome(s) of this team strolling in off of blowout wins, only to face a Sweden/US, etc.

Anyone. Any place. Any time.

We want the best competition.

Canada has loads of skill and talent up front but this could be the softest group I can remember watching.

Everything seems to be on the perimeter. No banging or crashing on the forecheck trying to create turnovers. No bodies in front of the net. Instead of driving to the net, they'll try to toe drag the d man and turnover the puck. I just don't see the killer instinct from years past.
