Again it shouldn't be perceived as a knock on Dach's defence; he wouldn't be on the first line if defence was an issue. It's more a compliment to Cozens' defence: he's faster and more in your face.

I'm just speculating. Maybe it's a speed through the neutral zone thing? That could also be why McMicheal is playing centre and not on the wing. Newhook, Cozens and McMicheal all play a very high-tempo game, and that might be what Canada is designing it's game plan around. Faceoffs may also be a consideration, although I have no idea of either player's skill in that area.
I mean I don't see it as a knock, and while I do agree Cozens does play more like that defensively and that the overall gameplan is probably the explanation, I feel it is fair to point out Dach's NHL postseason makes him the favorable candidate as he had strong games against the likes of McDavid/Drai in the playoffs, though I do get like you pointed out how they are trying to gameplan.

Maybe the coaching feels that Dach can dominate more offensively on the wing without the pressure to play a two way center man's game.

While I think Dach would have no issue at center I feel like he can flourish more on the wing than Cozens could. Cozens is still a great choice for the #1 center.

The coach's practices mean a lot more than last season's playoffs when the sample size is that small.

So with Sweden's quarantine being extended to the 21st that is the end of one of Canada's pre tournament games.

It's not ideal but I suspect they'll end up playing Austria on the 21st. Austria was scheduled to play Germany in an exhibition game just prior to Canada/Sweden. If neither Germany nor Sweden can play in those games it only makes sense to still get Austria, and Canada a game against each other

There's also a Slovakia/Russia game on that day. Ideally you'd move Slovakia to play Austria, and Canada plays Russia, and then perhaps fit Canada/Sweden in on the 23rd rather than Canada Russia, and get Russia to play Switzerland which was Sweden's scheduled opponent on the 22nd, but I'm not sure they'd be able to mess with the schedule that much

I mean I don't know about that. The Quinn-Cozens-Dach line is quite clearly the 1st line and will be played like it is. Beyond that the other 3 lines can be juggled around though.
Their extra time will come on the powerplay. We aren't double shifting anyone on this team until we hit the medal round.

I don't think it is double shifting but how often are lines run literally in order in a game? Cozens and Dach are going to get more time at 5v5 and will be on the 1st PP unit. I guess they can role it somewhat e against Germany or Slovakia but you don't have Kirby Dach on the team to play 15 minutes a game.

I like the latter idea.

Play Russia first it’ll be a tough game and a good measure for us on the 21st, then play Sweden on the 23rd. I’m sure the Russians would be good with playing us on the 21st as well, we’re always a good measuring stick for each other. Both teams would benefit from it heading in to group play.

We have a weaker division, I’d rather play the two teams we will face again when it matters most instead of Austria.

Doc and walk don’t rhyme???

Am I in crazy town right now? :loony:

McMozesmadness is right. This thread is one for the books!
The 'oc' and the 'alk' sounds aren't quite the same (at least to me they aren't), but it's close enough that I'd imagine most wouldn't argue with it. It's all really just f***ing semantics and doesn't matter at all.
