It's anyone's guess, really. My sense of things is that you'll see Cozens, Dach and McMichael with one other forward (Quinn perhaps?) as Canada likes the 4 forward set. Lots of options for that fourth guy. Byram would be running the point. They do have TWO good offensive point men so maybe we'll see Byram and Drysdale together, though I think it make sense to hold one of them back for the second unit.
With so much depth on this roster, don't expect the first unit to get significantly higher minutes than the second unit like you might see with some other countries.
This is pure speculation, of course.
Wouldn't Harley be on the first PP unit? He is an offensive defenseman.
In the first two games of the Red - White scrimmage that I saw, I thought he was team White's worst defenseman. I am thinking he made the team based on his offensive skill.![]()
Great point. (and look at the gap between the two Dmen now)Whatever the first unit is, those players will receive the bulk of the PP time. The second unit is almost irrelevant. Canada's first unit PP routinely plays at least 1:30 of each two minute PP, if not slightly longer.
I also would not be surprised if Drysdale plays on the first unit with Byram on the second. Addison played first unit PP over Byram last year. Tourigny likely will want to keep Byram somewhat fresh, since he will play a lot of 5v5 minutes and likely PK time.
Canada makes some interesting decisions sometimes with the D-man on the PP. Mete received the overwhelming majority of PP time over Cale Makar a few years ago.
Educated GuessAnyone know the projected 1st PP Unit?
It doesn't actually track stats but The Score app will have boxscores, usually elite prospects have the full tournament stats as well.Anyone know how to access stats this year? The stats.iihf.com thing doesn’t seem to work anymore and I know the website is terrible during the tournament. Any ideas?
I expect Byram on the first PP unit, he was in the two games we saw and then when they moved him to Dach’s team in the next two Pronman’s tweeted he was on the PP unit with Dach and Cozens. He plays a ton wherever he plays so that’s not an issue.
No way Drysdale isn't getting in on one of those.Educated Guess

Yes, but hockey at this level has always been about systems and plugging the right skill set into the right spot. Mario Lemieux on the 4th line sound sweet, but he’s not a bottom 6 guy or skill set.I know the forum guys from other countries go off when we get too full of ourselves, but nevertheless... I can’t go up and down that lineup without seeing it as hockey’s equivalent of murderer’ row. That fourth line has a guy that scored 52 last year , a guy that had a points/game of 1.58, and a guy that had a points/game of 1.61. That’s the FOURTH LINE!![]()
They probably want Cozens speed down the middle.I find it odd that there's a real possibility Dach won't be the center on first line in favor of Cozens considering his NHL experience, and being a force during the postseason
