It wasn't even remotely close before they were drafted. Dach was even a surprise at #3.

All three had average at best rookie seasons and its going to take more than a good play in series to make Dach the best forward from the draft, even right now.
If you look at their point totals only then sure the top 3 are all even based on that. But if you actually watched the games, Dach is ahead of the other two based on the whole picture.

He was sound defensively which meant he got more responsibility as the year went, and absolutely physical which was something the Hawks desperately needed.

Hughes and Kakko were two of the worst players defensively in the league last year. So Dach is way ahead of them in that regard, and there’s some of us who believe he could even be a Selke contender in the future, that’s how well he played.

And Jeff Skinner was better than Seguin/Hall in their rookie season. How did that turn out? Duchene was better than Hedman and equal to Tavares. Not so much anymore.

When Kakko/Hughes were way ahead of Dach before the draft its going to take more than a slightly better rookie season to put him ahead of them in a re-draft

Zary's been paired with Tomasino throughout the entire camp. Clearly they have good chemistry or something.

Skinner had injury issues, IIRC.

Im still convinced were going to see Spence end up playing a huge role for TC. Most didnt even expect him to make the team but I always thought he was one of the best D in his age class. He was by far the best all situations D in the Q last season and has been on a whole other level in his limited action this season. Pretty crazy how much hes improved since going undrafted to the Q at 16

I hope everyone passes

Just a thought, and I’m probably not the first to think about this.

I hear concerns about how the under 25 year old players are different in how they “game” as opposed to playing cards & going out.

I tended to agree with this until this pandemic hit. Now I’m convinced that this has been an advantage for them. At least they can connect with each other, especially when they are confined to their hotel rooms. I would probably go stir crazy at that age.

This is going to be a defining moment in their lives and I just hope they all are able to cope & have outlets to support them. I’m confident all the teams have considered this.

Well, it's the 14th, isn't it about time tsn starts dolling up the good ol boys from the U.S with their annual hype machine and telling us how wonderful they are?

I mean, it's their 2nd favorite team and all. I would say by the 23rd I will have heard all I ever want to hear about Trevor Zegras and a few others.

Zegras already has gotten the universal overrating treatment after last WJC, following in the footsteps as such stars as Poehling, Mittelstadt, Keller, and Milano.

I wonder if this will be the year where we see it happen to the same guy twice.

I am soooo looking forward the the Russia/U.S. game on Christmas day.

I'll watch, of course, but the Canadian RR games will likely be duds - with the exception of NYE... hopefully.

I'm sure some of what they say is shown in the U.S. - as the try and sell the WJR's south of the border. You can't fault them for trying to build hype.
