Not sure if Knies would be ready or if the pressure may be too much but he’d slot in nicely next to Tavares and Marner. I mean you can put almost anyone next to those two players and they’ll probably look good but with Knies’ size, physicality, skating, shooting, etc it could be a really nice and easy transition for him.
I think over time, he could be a great compliment on a line with them. He could forecheck hard, dig out pucks and play the cycle game with Tavares down low. He could also be a great net front presence and open up space with his size for Marner, letting him work his magic.

Someone I know told me the Leafs gave him some tips for off-ice work he could do to get stronger when they saw him during the rookie / youth orientation get together at the end of the summer.

He's a freak athlete but needed some refining.

all prospects receive significant conditioning and nutrient coaching during the prospect camps.

As someone who watches the Gophers a fair amount, him returning to college for a season was definitely the right call to help round out the lesser aspects of his game, and also I think give him time to grow his on ice decision making abilities (especially in defensive situations).

At the moment I'd expect he will sign with the team when the NCAA season ends.

He's got a very strong chance to develop into a legit top six NHLer. Though, if he plays with the Leafs before the 2023-24 season I think it'll be in a more limited role (which still may involve offensive zone starts with Nylander-Tavares)

why would that happen? I don't get it.

Didn't they not hold those rookie orientation camps etc because of covid?

So basically it was a good chance for the team to get their hands on him and in their facility to see if they needed to fine tune anything.

hopefilyl bud bu d d dubas doesnt suuse him as trade

He already refused to include him in the Chicago deal involving Fleury and Hagel.

Dubas wouldn't ruin the future of this team to save his job, he would be scooped up immediately by another team even if he's let go.

I'd imagine he would have a starting GM job roughly 1-2 months after being fired. Maybe sooner.

With the Soo Greyhounds maybe.

Once he gets to the Leafs skills, development and conditioning team team is going to be really good for him.

I don't think so either. I said the same last year when many were predicting that he would sell the farm for futures to try to win a round to save his job. Didn't happen then so I see no reason to think it will happen this time around.

I'm almost 100% sure he'd get another GM job if fired or not extended. Whether it takes 1-2 months or slightly longer than that I don't know, but he'll get hired for sure. And yes it would be with a NHL team, not the Soo.

Probably by Edmonton, they seem to like our scraps (I'd use a different term but I'd probably get banned for it). Then celebrate by saying haha we stole ___ from you.

Ironic because they spend as much time whining about how awful the Leafs are as they do discussing their own team.

CJ mentioned Dubas would find another NHL job pretty easily
Ottawa would probably hire him assuming they can't turn it around this season. Dubas would fit their low budget vibe with trying to leverage analytics and getting 'undervalued' players, he also grew up a Sens fans and he has ties to DJ Smith as well (although Smith would probably be fired too I'd imagine). And if Keefe gets fired here you know he's bringing him along lol.

Man amongst boys right now in college. He’s got everything but elite wheels. You could argue that he is benefitting from great line mates and a superior team, but you can also argue that he is a big reason that his line and team is so good.
Leafs have to feel good about his size and toughness.
