Comets have pressured the comets for what seems like hours and they have failed to get the puck out in several attempts.
Schmelzer tripped up on a breakaway and the Comets go back to the PP. Their PP has been anemic of late going 0/for the last 4 games

Clarke a shot off the rush kicked out intentionally to his guy by Luuk which started a 3 on 2. No harm.

Luuk mputs the neck off the post again as the Comets got to his net front.
This is so obviously on purpose. He's 6'5" and just nudges the crossbar under his shoulder off the peg.
Now he does it again and the ensuing shot goes in.
Greer challenges him on it and the refs are confronted by Captain Schmelzer.
Now waiting for the faceoff and the ref is in the crease having a long converstion with Luuk.

An Amerk glides hard to the net front and Daws lowers the shoulder and wins the collision. Jankowski was the culprit and he gets 2 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Holtz finally gets his chance. Gets a pass off the draw from Walsh at the point and creeps in, waits for the screen, and wrists it home.

Loose puck cleared to Daws in the crease and he yields a huge rebound back out in front and a quagmire ensues and the Amerks knock the net off the post.
Daws has done this several times tonight. There is no need for these rebounds on easy shots.

This is still anyone's hockey game.
In a game of special interest to the Comets, Providence trails Wilkes/Barre-Scranton 3-1 after 2 periods. The Comets magic number for the Eastern Conference was 3. If the games remained in the current state with Comets out front and the Bruins losing the points battle would be over.
3rd periods can result in totally different outcomes.

Man that Holtz fails to impress me each and every game. I don’t see how he is going to end up as an NHL player
Amerks need this game badly for their playoff hopes. I look to see them come out banging, crashing, skating hard and forechecking the heck out of the Comets makeshift D.
The Comets will have to meet their effort.
This is a good test of what will happen every playoff game that they lead going into the 3rd. They have been very bad at holding leads the past 2 months. The Amerks have taken advantage of that failure a coupe of times already. Thus, they know the pressure has worked in the past and they will crank it up again.
