F.G. (TEDDY) OKE TROPHY

The F.G. (Teddy) Oke Trophy is named after one of the early pioneers of the sport in the 20th century.

Teddy Oke was the owner of the Kitchener team in the Canadian Professional Hockey League, one of two leagues that joined to create the present-day American Hockey League in 1936.

One of the oldest trophies in North American sports, the Oke Trophy was first presented more than eight decades ago to the London Panthers, champions of the CPHL in 1927. It is now awarded to the winner of the AHL's North Division.

Utica's conference title clinching magic number drops from six to three as the Comets have the tiebreakers in RW and ROW over Providence now.

Unfortunately Utica was eliminated from winnining the Macgregor Kilpatrick trophy with their OTL last night. Comets could still get home ice for the Finals if Chicago, Stockton, and Ontario get upset.

Division clinched. Daws is finally back. Time to get back on track
i expect Daws to get the last home game on Friday against Rochester. Rochester is fighting to get in, get home ice, or even a playin bye.

Then Utica has a week off. That's plenty of practice time for Daws to get acclimated to his old teammates.

Finish off with a road B2B in Rochester and Providence.

Conference title is the only thing left to play for and they'll probably win that if Providence just gives up three of their possible twelve remaining points. Bruins would have to go 5-1 or 4-0-2 and have Utica lose out. They're currently on a 5-0 streak.

Then it's more practice during the best of three between the fourth and fifth place playin round teams.

The North has quite a war going on for playoff positions. Laval (5) and Belleville (3) at 80 Pts and Syracuse (6) and Rochester (4) with 81 and Toronto bringing up the bottom with 74 (5). The parentheses indicating games remaining. Lava, Belleville, and Toronto are playing 72 games while Syracuse and Rochester are playing 76. All 5 are jockeying for final positions and you know they all want the #s 2 and 3 spots to avoid the play-in, but none wishes to be eliminated from the dance. The points don't really matter as it's the winning %s that will finally align them.

Right now it's:
Laval .597
Belleville .580
Syracuse .579
Rochester .563
Toronto .552

Utica, who has had their problems with the Amerks, will play Rochester twice in their last 3 games. Once at home (tomorrow) and once on the road (next Friday).

With the 6 games the Crunch have remaining it looks like they have their final positional fate in their own hands since Belleville has 3 games remaining while Rochester and Toronto have 3 and 4 games remaining respectively. Toronto is fighting for ts playoff life.

In the Atlantic 1-3 are up for grabs. Providence currently sits on top. #2 Charlotte is only 7 % points behind Providence, but only has 2 games remaining. #3 Springfield, however, plays Providence twice and only 8 % points separates them from Providence yet to play 6 games and Springfield 5.

In the Pacific the 1 and 2 spots are still in question and the 3-5 spots are in a real battle, but the 7 playoff participants are determined. The 2-6 teams all have play-ins: 2vs7, 3vs6, 4vs5. There's still a lot of jockeying that can take place to determine those final positions.

Utica and Chicago are the 2 teams to have locked up their Divisions. My guess is that Stockton will win out in the Western Conference race and Utica, provided they get their heads out of their butts, can win the East on their own in the last 3 games, but can still back in if Providence loses 3 points out of their remaining possible 12. The Bruins are currently on a role, 5-0 in their last 5 while Utica is 2-2-1-0 in their last 5.

Comets will need to finish with 97 points to become the third best team in NJD organizational history.

6 points in 3 GR. 3-0-0

93 points to finish fourth best.

2 points in 3 GR. 1-2-0, 0-1-2

Comts lineup is a mish mash.

Luukkonen stops a 3 on 2.

Greer hits the post on a backhander off the rush.
