Bad start this team, but same group that was top ten in metrics to finish last season. As well as a lousy team. You do watch these game right?
So I expect a turnaround at some point.

Last year can be an anomaly, no? They were a bottom end team last season is what matters not their top 10 metrics. Still are a bottom end team.Bad start this team, but same group that was top ten in metrics to finish last season.

Because seasons are long and have ups and downs.Last year can be an anomaly, no? They were a bottom end team last season is what matters not their top 10 metrics. Still are a bottom end team.
Not sure how anyone can watch these games and come away thinking they are in good shape going forward or that the future looks goods.
We just disagree as I think the talent level isn't all that good on the current roster nor do I think what they have in the system is anything special or to get all excited about. You also have blind faith when it comes to this Organization. I do not as the evidence is there, they will continue to flounder along.Because seasons are long and have ups and downs.
'You're never as good as you think you are when you win; and you're never as bad as you feel when you lose.'
One of the keys for a successful rebuild is staying on an even keel, don't get too excited with the team or players when things are going well or get too down when the team and players are struggling.
Colorado, after three years out of the playoffs, put up 112 points in 2013-14, then 90, 82, 48 before becoming a perennial playoff team.
Blackhawks were out of the POs for 4 years, then 96 points, followed by 79, 59, 61, 71, 88 and the rest is history.
Panthers missed the POs for 3 years, then put up 106 points, followed by 81, 96, 86 before their current run.
Point is progress isn't necessarily linear. If you're planning on being competitive in 3-4 years, there's no reason to worry about this season.

How does the talent on those compare to the Flyers?

The point wasn't to compare them to the Flyers, just that if you're 3-4 years away from competing, obsessing over 10 games stretches, or even a full season, is foolish. You won't know if Briere is a success or failure until 2027 or 2028.None of these are relevant to the Flyers.
The Avs had two Forwards under 21 now pacing for the HoF plus a 24yo Landeskog when they had 48 Points.
The 2001-02 Blackhawks had 96 Points in large part because Eric Daze looked like the next great power forward.
The way you cherry picked the Panthers is particularly hilarious given that the last year of missing the playoffs, they had 91 Points. The Flyers have done that twice in the last decade, although you can add another if you prefer for 19-20's COVID interruption. Still only makes it 3. But that 91 Point team had a 19yo Barkov, a 21yo Huberdau, and an 18yo Ekblad.
It's not the Points. It's the pieces. The Flyers have 1 major one and maybe two secondary ones at this point.
But really what I want to talk about is the never getting too high part. Kinda goes against their draft philosophies, huh?

Trust the Process (until BC hits town). Hinkie had the right idea, but didn't implement it well (blew a lot of high picks).
I'm patient as long as Briere doesn't spend real assets on short-term fixes.
Don't care about picks out of the top 100 anymore after seeing the lack of success in recent years (as teams get better at drafting, it seems fewer sleepers fall in the draft).
1st and high 2nd rd picks are the key, after that it's a crapshoot.
I want them used or in trades for under 25 year old players.
That's fair, but then please don't try to tell me that who they pick and more importantly why are minor grievances. Same goes for giving out an 8 year deal to a streaky good but not great player. If the devil is in the details, then the details are fair game to criticize.
Me said:I’m going to need a couple of days, but I’ll change it back to the original. It’s on my home PC and I had to come up to visit my parents for health reasons.
TK's deal comes down to projection with better players around him. That's fair, but then please don't try to tell me that who they pick and more importantly why are minor grievances. If he's a 70-80 point forward it's a bargain, if he's a 50 point forward, a mistake.
Between this and his Keith Jones shirt… I dunno, man…
Eric Daze. Now that’s a blast from the past. The 2001-02 Blackhawks had 96 Points in large part because Eric Daze looked like the next great power forward.

Tippett is similar, rule of thumb used to be $1M per 10 points (adjust up or down for defense). The other one. I completely forgot about Konecny tbh.
Tippett is similar, rule of thumb used to be $1M per 10 points (adjust up or down for defense).
Now it's more $1M per 8-9 points given the escalating cap on long-term deals.
So if he's a 25 goal, 50+ point forward who can play on the PK the deal is fine.
People tend to look at dollars when making comparisons, proper metric is % of cap at mid-point of deal. In four years, cap should be over $100M, so Tippett would be 6.0%. TK 8.75%
Compare to Voracek, $8.25M, cap in 2019-20, $81.5M = 10.1%
(the cap flattened starting in 2020-21)
Couts $7.75M, $92M next season = 8.4%
Sanheim $6.25M, 96M = 6.5%
