There are 4 Sens at the blueline and the Comets puck carrier is dumbfounded rush up the ice after rush.

I swear Bernard-Docker has blocked more Comets shots than the keeper has made saves tonight.

The Sens are once again playing you won't score and the Comets, like the past 2 losses, still seem to lack an answer.

Holtz is as brain dead tonight as the rest of the boys. Trying to make the centering pass through a maize time after time.

Mitens a save to stop a 2 on 1. Sit and play d rush after rush and wait for the error and counter. Textbook d-hockey.

9:50 to go in regulation and the board says the Comets don't have a shot to Belleville's 2. Not exactly how you battle to get the tying goal.

Sens aren't having trouble controlling the puck once they turn up the O. Mitens a big stop and a whiff bya Sen as the puck bounces over his stick. He was sitting off the corner in the low slot looking into the net.

TV TO 7:35 to go.

Utica still not credited with a shot in the period.

There's one I think and there's another and the puck sits on the line and doesn't go in.

Yup, 2 SOG.

The Comets are absolutely mystified by the defensive scheme. They not only can't get into the offensive zone, they can't get through the neutral zone.

Now Dineen calls a timeout. What? Did he suddenly realize his team doesn't know how to deal with this scheme? It's playoff time and he hasn't been working on attacking D-schemes?

It's play after play. Get it in and and it's right back out.

Mitens gone.

Comets running around, get pucks to the net, but nothing really challenging.

1:14 to go. Faceoff in the Sens end.

Faceoffs don't matter huh? If they don't win the draw this one is likely over.
They won the draw got off I believe 4 shots and every one was blocked.

Another goal for the Sens and it's 4-1.

I could blame Mitens for screwing up behind his net, but that was one goal. The team''s inability to perform offensively is the reason behind their downward spiral that has been slowly spinning out of control. There is no switch to hit when the playoffs begin that will make them good again.

The team is impotent vs any kind of defensive scheme and their coaches have to have seen this the last month or more. Instead of getting better at it, they have progressively gotten worse as their opponents have stepped it up and perfected their schemes. Going nealrly the entire final period of a 1-goal game against a 5th place team with no shots is inexcusable to the coaching staff. You can see the players are confused and have no sense of what to do. The Comets have never developed such a scheme of their own and therefore have no way to practice against to get better.

There are only 5 games left and Laval just keeps winning and gaining on the Comets with every game. The Comets do not have the Division clinched which means there has to be a means for them to be overtaken. They just backed into the playoffs with other teams' losses. They appear to be counting on the same path to win the Division. While other AHL teams are getting stronger, the Comets are struggling with a depleted team. This season appears to be heading for a quick, disappointing end. It's too bad for the kids who worked so hard to be let down in the end by a couple failures. The biggest one is their own coaching staff.
