I think he'd be more than happy to get a contract done early. Nate doesn't strike me as a let's let this linger kind of guy. He strikes me as let's get this done, so I can just play and focus on hockey guy.
I see what you are saying but not so sure about that. I don't see his need to sign early without leaving options open.

Imagine Nate getting a knockout offer from the Rangers. I mean he'd have lots of reasons for him to consider that.

I have to say he'd look good in a Ranger sweater

Edit: nate leaci g his house and being at the airport in 19 mins and jumping on a plane to New york and being there in an hour is beco.ung more and more logical so let's I think I'll end this now .

I mean even Burnaby Joe was about to go and he's a west coast guy

I like Gio but I’d put him up with Chychrun as costing too much(assets and salary)

Chariot is overrated IMO and they seem to want a lot for him but he would still be an upgrade for us.

Kulak doesn’t move the meter much for me

Giordano might not be as cheap as some players but he's 38 and a pending UFA so the cost can't be too crazy. :dunno:

Atlantic ocean warm current beaches , relaxing lifestyle and seafood lol. For Nate it would be home or closer to it.

Being close to family is important.

Most people would give anything to get out of the East Coast and move to Denver. I mean just go see the crowds we get for Rangers, Bruins, Flyers, etc games. They all did it already.

And yeah those things are for the offseason when players can live wherever they want. In season none of that is relevant.

Something would have to go very wrong in the negotiations for Mack to leave after his current contract. I expect something done this summer. The way I see it is he has more incentive to sign early. Mack might have another gear to get even better but next season could also be disastrous for him contract-wise as well. He could have a long-term injury, he could have a shorter-term injury that affect his speed, he could also just start regressing, etc. In other words Mack is most likely at his peak or very close to it while there is more room for him to get worst.

Also I'm sure Sakic will try to make him understand that the sooner he signs the sooner he can sort out the rest of the roster to remain a contender. Taking one more year before signing would just handcuff Sakic in what he can do for next season because he would have to wait to know Mack's contract before making long-term decision regarding the rest of the roster. Mack's hockey IQ might not be very high but I'm sure he can easily understand that signing early would help hm more in the long run accomplishing what he wants the most which is winning a SC. Waiting until the end of his current contract to extend would harm more than help his chances to win next season.

As for the size of the contract Landy and Makar put a lot of pressure on him last summer to keep with his word of "taking less to help win here". Basically Landy and Makar told him: " you said you would take less so here we go...we did so the ball is in your court." I don't expect a huge discount but there will be one.

What if this new top line works out..?
Landy-Rantanen-Nuke

That is an incredibly solid line makes you wonder what we could feasibly run as our other lines as when MacK comes back IF they decide to keep that line together.

Landy-Rantanen-Nuke
Trade-MacK-Burakovsky
Newhook-Kadri-LOC
Helm-Jost-NAK

Probably unlikely that those lines ever develop, but damn if Rantanen can play as a top 6 center we have some great problems moving forward.

Rantanen is probably a top 15 center. If he plays center. It's kind of a huge luxury (and one that shouldn't taken for granted) that Rantanten can step in like that. The guy is a monstrous chess piece for Bednar.

I like that a lot and think it needs to be implemented during the offseason. For this year while they have Kadri I think it makes more sense to keep it as is. Newhook is just fine as 3C and should with some development be a fine choice for 2C if they wish, but Kadri needs to be with scorers on his wings to get full value out of him.

In theory I like this as it spreads out the talent and I love Nuke. But he shouldn’t be on the top line or even 2nd line for a team going for a cup imo. He just doesn’t have the offensive skill set necessary imo.

Nah, I'm sure the wifi is the same for streaming and that's really all that matters. Little shocked (but not THAT shocked), that we have 3 pages of "what-ifs" with Mack. Really no reason to speculate in my opinion. Something seriously wrong would have to happen for him to not re-sign.

I don't know about that I mean North Carolina and Florida can be relaxing and still have the ocean. Heck even Bednar still lives there.

And ya the off season you get to go home or where you want but these guys eventually have families.

And east coast people don't see it your way. They don't leave and if they do they plan everything around moving back. Same as most places i suppose
