This is gonna be the momentum maker in the series. I’m super stoked about Monday but truth is it was a tie game with 5 minutes to go and it could have gone either way. For the love of god though just stay out of the box! Finish every check you can against jizsaddle!

Maybe, but keep in mind 2 of the goals came on two of the WORST calls made....and I normally will stick up for officials, after having been one for nearly 30 years.....those were so freaking bad.... if they don't get those calls, EDM doesn't score those goals....

Still important to stay out of the box etc, but let's not overestimate the Oilers....they are a PP team who 5 on 5, is a 2 man show.

Gotta disagree with this one. LA can run 2 of the best in Danault and Kopitar and shut down a team. AHL teams can’t do that. LA has a powerful line in that Moore line
I mean he played we more in the AHL than the NHL if I remember correctly? Would be awesome if a couple of his monarch’s ex teammates tweeted your a plug stfu!!!

How doesn’t matter…. just how many, in the playoffs. Bad calls rarely last an entire series so I hope your right. Hahahahaha

It matters to an extent, I pray to god Edmonton is hoping for bad calls to keep games close....

Didn't Pittsburgh replace their goalie during one of the OT's? New York should have probably done the same lol.
That goalie is supposedly out for game 2

I love the chicklets but if you bet based on their projections you'd be broke in a week.

My only prediction about tonight is that the officiating will somehow find a way to be center stage.
If the refs are as biased as they say they are, then we have a problem. The oilers fans were talking about what a good relationship Kozari and McDavid have. That should concern a lot of people considering the fact it’s well documented that the refs are biased and aren’t in the business of being fair. So that is a legitimate concern.

No one should forget how favorable the calls were for the knights for the first couple years

Wait, this was supposed to be meme of Penner saying, "You can't get'em all Smith!"

Oh well, no one can doubt Penner's focus.

In terms of officiating, the best thing the refs could do is to let them play. Calling things tight, even if calls go in the Kings favor, is bad for the Kings.

Yeah Lemieux is still in a bad way since his return from injury. That being said his goal was pretty symbolic of what we need to do to smith. You don't even have to snipe him, just get in there and get ugly.

Christ, this again?

Look at when the 2nd PP got on--twice they got on on the fly after the 1st PP turned the puck over and were fighting back from their end, and the other times they simply got the last 20-30 seconds of the PP.

It's the equivalent of MTL burying Danault with 70%+ dzone starts and wondering where his goal scoring is.

This forum LOVES blaming everyone but the culprits, give me a f***ing break. Kopitar was stuck on the baseline for 5 minutes. Pure dogshit deployment.
Yes this again

The 2nd PP usually outplays the first, but not in this game they didn't. Kopitar looked terrible, yes, but the other group looked terrible and were giving up scoring chances while on the PP.

The average PP shift time of the 2nd unit was around 40 seconds, it's not like they were starved for time. Yeah, they started 3 of 4 on the fly, but they still had a couple of faceoffs to work with. And in their two and a half minutes of PP time, Moore, Arty, and QB gave up more shots against than they generated (2 to 3), one of which was high danger. Kempe, Kopitar, and Danault didn't give up a single shot against when they were on the ice.

This isn't to deflect any blame from Kopitar and the usual crew that has sucked for most of the season, but the 2nd unit was a worse option in the first game. They were terrible, Grundstrom/Brown/Lizotte generated just as much in 20 seconds of PP time.

I'd have Grundstrom out there planted in front, personally.

Question since you ref... in the NHL how and when was so much power given to the linesman to kick guys out of circle for seemingly very minor infractions. It seems like its been maybe the last 5 years its gotten very noticeable. In my opinion its way overboard. If you observe international hockey, there is none of this bs puck drops happen fast and rarely do refs reset the draw. The question is, did the NHL specifically change the way they handle faceoffs or is this something that has crept into officiating in the NHL

Noticed this a lot last game. Think Kopi even yelled at one.

The PP comes down to personnel. Has since the Vegas series. It’s boring, predictable, and slow.

It takes away from the game. No one wants to see some linesman punk a player over a nit... its a bad look.. hockey always had its priorities straight. A tough game that even allows fighting to settle things sometimes.. Now we got some librarian telling the players to keep their stick still and on the dot. Thats what linesman are now little bitchy librarians.

I remember the linesmen doing this when I was a kid 30 years ago and my dad yelling "Were not here to see you!!!".

I hate it too. Maybe it’s like an inferiority complex. They’re the least important guys out there, so they want to make the most out of their little moment. It’s literally the only time they’re allowed to have punitive authority over the players.

Do the main referees ever do it when they drop at center ice? I don’t think they do, or definitely not as often.
