I think its time run Lemieux at Crysaitl next time he takes a liberty with someone like he did with Durzi. I hope Blake or Koala spoke to the league about officiating and tried to find out if this is some league wide mandate to not 'let them play' or at least complain that there were 3 very questionable calls in the 2nd period.. The Kings should play really clean and let JQ bail them out if necessary.

Kings need Lemieux and Grundstrom to throw the body around a lot tonight. They might not be able to hit McDavid and Drai but maybe they can wear down some of the rest of the players.

Look at how the game started, Yamamoto grabbed someone around the neck, then threw them on the ice. straight up wrestling move. There was no call at first, then a long delay, then the ref called it. Crap like this all night, but hey, if you shove a guy on the hip with your stick and he goes down...crosschecking!

Kopi led the entire team not just fwds with 25:41 TOI .. should be better management of his time going forward. A simple way to do that is cycle in Lizotte as the 2nd primary PK center along w Danault.. Kopi a step slow anyway covering their leading scorers .. lizotte tho small could at least keep up.

My Bday wish today - Kings win, 5-2. Byfield with a goal, 1 assist. Durzi fights Drai and bloodies his nose.
Kane jumps in and gets third man and ejected.
He whines at presser.
Reign win opening round 1 game, 6-2 and Turcotte 2 goals, 1 assist. Thomas 1 goal, 1 assist. Fagemo, Grans and Frk with the others.

I suspect that the reason McLellan wasn't interested in playing Lemieux was because he didn't want to take the risk of him doing something stupid that would end up having to kill more penalties. Oilers 2 of their 3 goals came on the powerplay and the only 5v5 goal that they scored was a wonder goal by the best player in the world. You have to keep this game 5 on 5 any chance you get and if these first few games are any indication the officials aren't interested in letting them play.

Now if my theory is correct about McLellan I'm wondering if we could see someone like Andersson come in for him. At least he has an edge and some skill and could compliment Byfield and Arty

Its interesting that QB had almost the same amount of time at even strength 3:03 than he did on the PP 2:30... weird utilization. He didnt look good out there, hopefully he gets more comfortable tonite. Re Brown he was invisible. 1 SOG in 10 minutes ES. I think his TOI should be lower or he should be replaced w Vilardi or Kupari. Lemieux 2 SOG and 1 G in 3 minutes of ice time. Other than that, the bottom 2 lines were useless last game.

I'm watching my local team play an elimination game OT in the finals right now and part of me keeps thinking about the Kings game.

I think the concern of Kopi's ice time is overblown. Nearly 5 minutes of that was on the PP. Kopitar only had 15:30 of ES ice time, that's less than a minute above his average. Staying out of the box will help his minutes, but honestly, as passive as our PK strategy is against Edmonton, those aren't particularly tough minutes.

Much ado about nothing.

Sounds like Arvi will be out longer than “day to day”

If you're spending 5 minutes doing little on the powerplay, put someone else out there who can do more.

Everyone talks about unhinging Smith...I want to unhinge Kane. He's worthless when he's thinking about his next victim.

I basically just accept that McDavid is good for two points no matter what, the goal is to shut everyone else down.
It's the old cliche that I haven't really heard anyone say lately: You can't stop Drai and Mcf***stick, you can only hope to contain them.

Good thing hockey is a team sport.

I think it's only a matter of time before CoKane has a major impact on this series, equally possible negative or positive.
