The offense hasnt been there. Theres no denying it. Though can you at least agree that the third line is much better breaking out and not losing coverage in their own zone since Brown has been off of it? Its also better in the neutral zone and getting pucks deep. Just when its finally there they cant turn it into anything dangerous. Hopefully they can muster some points and get some confidence.

Brown had been horrible, no doubt. Just tired of blaming other players or coaches for an individual player's inabilities.

Look at the post a few before yours, comparing him to two possible HoFers, and 2 guys who will 99.9% have their jersey's retired in LA. Saying there isn't anything there is writing him off in my opinion. Give the kid time to learn. just because he isn't destroying the league at 19 doesn't mean he's a career 4th liner. Some players take longer to put it all together, some never do, as a King's fan, I hope he does, not ready to throw in the towel just yet.
Don't need to look back and compare him to HOFers. Kempe took 5+ years to break out, it happens if your patient enough. I just don't think and I hope a #2 pick should take that long.

He reminds me of Letang

THAT I can get on board with

Letang much faster but wow, visually even, it checks out

Byfield's game is getting worse.

Then again, the 23-and-under line was pretty mediocre. One of the reasons I'm not fond of an entire line like that, and why these young guys should have been with a vet earlier in the season in higher scoring roles.

Love Durzi's ability to move the puck in the offensive zone.

Even more impressed with Spence literally adapting his game on a daily basis.

And I think that's to be expected against veteran teams, especially one as a big as the Sharks.

Vilardi is probably best equipped for a game like this and even he struggled on the boards vs. them.

They're the perfect storm for us--veteran team (vs. youth) who generates crazy chances from the back end and can elude a forecheck (our game looks like shit without a forecheck), gets shots thru to huge forwards banging away in front of our net (vs. small, younger OFD).

I agree, I hope it doesn't take him 5 years either, but even him taking 5 years is better than him never getting it. I know there's a lot of joking about his stick, but it could have a lot to do with his awkwardness out there.

How can anyone say people aren't being critical of Byfield, there's literally 3 full pages of posts complaining about him in this thread alone never mind all over the god damn forum

"byfield is getting a free pass" lmao you're hard pressed to find anyone say anything good about him

Hell I've given up on it because even giving him a compliment results in 5 angry responses and a PM

Perception is in the eye of the poster. It's really no surprise, the same way some people are incapable of reading a room irl, it goes the same for a forum full of words.

f***ing LOL. That's pure gold. We need a little more of that Twitter team swagger! Love it.
“I think you’ve heard me talk about culture — and, quite frankly, and this has always been in the back of my mind. First you need stability and continuity. Then you get an identity, and then you have culture. But if you don’t have the first one, you’re not going to get the culture. And culture takes time, and the only way you’re going to do it is keep a bunch of good players together that care about each other, learn through the ups and downs and learn to win. And that’s a culture."

– Mad Scientist, Dean Lombardi

Man it’s coming but when they’re all no longer on the team that’s going to be rough on the heart. 3 of them playing 1,000 + games and Quick with 700, like it’ll be so weird not seeing them out there.

I said it before if any of these four wear another jersey I may just ball like a little girl. Hope they all retire a King.

Winning sure is fun! Hope everyone else is stoked too! Good game. Cal looked great. Have a few things to clear up. Breakaways & multiple cross ice passes on the PK. Hopefully we can get a few more bodies back soon from IR.

How great is it to have Brown injured? No more anchors for Byfield allowing him to spread his offensive wings.

Since the Brown injury, the 3rd line has 2 points, the Kupari goal, and a Byfield assist vs Florida. Not exactly spreading his wings, more like, " should i spread them or not, hmmm, oh crap, the lane just closed, now i have to so something else" . Didn't do much tonight other than a few breakouts passes and one shot. He's seem to still be overthinking plays, no matter who's out there with him. Brown's not the issue with him, yet he's to blame.

A miracle happened tonight Kings beat the sharts.

1st shutout at home vs the Sharks since 2011. The special teams were all over the place once again. Glad they didn't hurt them again. Got a pp goal, still managed to give up two shorty chances AGAIN, and killed 3. The pointmen need to be much sharper, especially late in the game. Don't be so damn risky.

I dunno, I like that 3rd line, they've got some jump, would rather see Fagemo than Villardi on it, but that's just due to skating really,

One thing I've noticed is Byfield is still expecting to beat players on his speed, and while, yea he can skate, so can most players in the NHL, the angles that he takes, he's taking himself out of the play, he just flies towards the boards expecting to beat them on the outside, and there aren't many players you can beat on the outside in the NHL....

Villardi >>>Fagemo

Villardi >>>Fagemo

Gonna tighten that up for you.... Villardi opportunities to show what he has >>>>>>>>>> Fagemo's opportunities to show what he has,

That's the major difference.....Villardi can not keep up with Byfield OR Kupari, he just can't, he has skill for sure, but if you can't skate, it's 10x more difficult to play....

Fagemo has low skills for sure and very low hockey IQ.

Did you watch him playing in AHL?

I do not care how many goals he scored there.

JAD scored a lot of goals in AHL as well, but he proved recently that he cannot play in NHL.

I think the positive coming from that line is the much improved play of Kupari and Vilardi.

Making them steer the ship without worrying about the feelings of some aging player like brown is great for player development.

Let the vet lines take the shit matchups, and let the kids find their own game against the more favorable ones. It’s a solid development strategy.

Villardi skating improved by wide margin comparing to prior years

I guess you and I see the same player very differently.
